No thanks to you for daring to create a moral equivalency between the two.

Rudin's abusive treatment of his staff is well-known and documented. His office is what could charitably be described as a "hostile work environment" with extremely high staff turnover, largely because Rudin capriciously fires people. There's a reason job listings for "SR Productions" are posted regularly, every few weeks.

He's not just a jerk. He's abusive and no less egomaniacal and eager to flout his power over others as Weinstein . It just hasn't been sexual abuse, but it is abuse nonetheless.

I know and whole-heartedly believe they are different, make no wrong of it.

Thank you, Kad, for being more articulate on a Monday morning!

"It just hasn't been sexual abuse, but it is abuse nonetheless."

The lack of a moral compass in some of the posts on here is shocking to me, and is perhaps as troubling as the extent of sexual abuse that has been unearthed in the last few weeks. We do not have to condone hostile work environments to recognize that they is a difference morally and legally between throwing cell phones at people, firing people and other odious behavior, and raping someone. That's a big "just" you've offered.

Well, that would explain why I see postings for the same position at Rudin's office weeks apart on Playbill. I'm now eternally grateful that I never got called in when I applied in the past...

The lack of a moral compass? Oh, come on, Hogan. I'd suggest you'd get off your high horse for once, but then you'd be at a lack of things to contribute on this board. So get off your high horse.

I certainly made no argument of legal equivalency between sexual assault or harassment and Rudin's abuse toward his staff. But morally, I don't see the point or purpose of clarifying, "well one is wrong but one is super wrong" - because, duh, but also particularly when they both seem to be stemming from abuse of power in an industry in which such abuse is tolerated and expected and power dynamics are wildly uneven, but is all justified in the name of art.

Great art can be made without kicking your assistant out of your car while on the highway (which Rudin has done) and firing people for having to go to a funeral (also Rudin).

@Kad, if being offended by conflating two forms of abuse is being on a high horse, then I happily ride on. (As to not having anything else to contribute, I leave the record as demonstration of the weakness of your point, but I'll just write it off to your not liking what I had to say.) Being odious is not a crime. Being a bad employer is not a crime. Firing someone for a non-protected reason is not a crime. Raping someone is. We have laws that, hopefully, correlate sanctions to severity. If you think they should be different, lobby to have kicking someone out of your car on the side of the road made into a crime. If you do not want to patronize art created by ogres, don't. Be sure to wave down at me from your horse.

You literally just claimed that Kad was calling Rudin's abuse 'crimes.'  He didn't.  At all.  A mother who beats her daughter with a wooden spoon is committing a crime.  A mother who repeatedly calls her daughter fat, ugly, lazy and stupid is not.  But she's still committing abuse that does damage to people.  You're making up things to attribute to Kad to bolster you're argument.  I'd tell you to get off your high horse, but you can't actually seem to find one to climb upon.

Classifying two different forms of abuse as... well, abuse, is not in any way lessening one over the other, nor calling for someone to prosecuted for the, for lack of a better term, lesser offense.

Rudin is an abusive person. If you need his abuse to be categorized specifically, so as to not threaten your desire for orderly discussion and your impeccably tuned moral compass, you can do that on your own.

But one is less. And that's a point that evades you. Both are awful but there is a huge moral (and hence legal) difference. Rape is a heinous crime and it astonishes me you see a moral equivalence but to each their own I guess.

@Robby I did nothing of the sort.

I'm not certain that this tangent is worse than the absurd suppositions on the possible tax reporting of comps to undocumented persons.

It's at least a change.
