LES MISERABLES at my school

We have just started practices this week. Should be interesting, but the casting was unfair (not to me... I didn't deserve a lead role) but all the leads this year are just not good enough.

My school is doing Seussical. Auditions are on Wed, and I haven't found a decent song yet...
I'm kind of hoping for JoJo (the Who kid), esp. since the director said that he's going to cast JoJo male or female, and none of the guys that would be "eligible" for the part (short or freshman) can sing all that well.

Watch, that just jinxed it.

Hi- i've been reading posts here forever.. just never felt like signing up.
Anyway, i'm a senior in HS and we're doing Seussical.. i'm Horton re: 2005 High School Musicals Across the USA lol... it's a fun musical, but the songs do get annoying... but Horton has some really pretty songs. last year, we did Anything Goes and I was Billy. our music department is pretty darn good.

i posted before.. mine's doing Damn Yankees...
The two other highschools in my town are doing Suessical and Big River. They should be good.

I am soo jealous of anyone who's doing Into The Woods. I <3 that show and would KILL to be the baker's wife.

This year we are going out on the limb with a lesser known show:

LUCKY STIFF!

I got the leading role, too, which is exciting except much of the music sits too high. Eh, maybe we can fix stuff. Stupid tenor crap.

We are doing "Anything Goes", and I am absolutely thrilled because I was cast as Reno!! The rest of our cast should be really good too, except our Billy is one of the most un-talented musical theater boys in our school...we're all really angry about that...but Reno is a dream role for me, so I can't complain too much!!

We did Once Upon a Mattress last fall... I hate it... so much... I was Winnifred. I am trying to convince our director to do Gypsy or You're a Good Man... next year. Let's hope I gain some leverage.

We're just finishing up My Fair Lady for Student Directed Showcase (a sort of one-act thing - or shows condensed to one-length, as in the case of our production of MFL, though it's still good ;0) - directed by seniors taking the directing class ), in which I'm Eliza ( re: 2005 High School Musicals Across the USA ).

Our spring musical this year is 42nd Street, in which I'm Anytime Annie.

The high school that I do shows with (because they don't have enough people who've taken tap, and I'm tall), is doing "42nd Street". I'm in the ensemble there... (not bad for a kid who doesn't even GO to the school...)

And our school is doing "Cheaper by the Dozen". I've been cast as Anne. (It's my opinion that any school that does a play about a family with that many kids just is looking for an excuse to cast as many people as possible, but it's fine with me.)

my school is doing A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum...it should be way interesting because our director/theatre teacher is out on maternity, and lately theres been speculation as to whether shes coming back...if not, i fear the theatre sub, the retired ms teacher, will direct it and well, god, was the ms production of joseph interesting!

right now is student production though...we are doing Hamlet II: Better than the Original(idk if i'd say better)and im Guildenstern, the director made Rosencrantz, Guildenstern, Fransisc(a), and Horati(a) girls, because of a huge lack of male talent...do a lot of schools out there have such a lack of guys?

My old High school is doing anything goes. I go to an arts high school now, but we don't have a musical theater department so we do a musical revue in the dorms. Then I have two more shows for my theater area and this summer in my home town we are doing Cowgirls

we have our show early b/c the seniors leave halfway through the year. we did celebration. i choreographed. i go to a small school so there's not much to pick from and we don't have the greatest talent. a lot of people also dropped out if they didnt get a lead (there are only 4) b/c nobody knew the show. it worked out ok though.

I wish I went to some of your schools.

Still don't know what we are doing this year (we tried and failed to get the rights to Chicago, almost did Once Upon A Matress, and are currently looking at "The King and I" and "Peter Pan"...I believe).

We did Starmites last year (odd, but funny show...I was Mom and a Starmite), Cinderella the year before, and Oaklahoma the year before that.

I really am hoping my director chooses a really dark and meaty play this year, because all of us actors are getting a little tired of fluff.

Hey centerstage-

My school does the same thing! And it's always me who gets stuck with the guys roles, only we don't change them into girls, so I always have to...erm "bind my chest" as the theatre saying goes. Just recently I was the Judge in Inherit the Wind.

"This is what I trained to do, and this is what I love about theater. What I love about being an actress is being able to really look into myself and understand another human being. And out my own self, to shape and form and fashion a real human being--and to present that in such a way that people see something of themselves or their own understanding in that human being." --Phylicia Rashad

my school is doing FAME. It is pretty odd since the role of Carmen is played by who is not hispanic at all. and the role of Serena is not shy but hey thats why they call it acting, right?
I didnt audition because i was sick and my voice was completely gone! The other high school is doing Fiddler on the Roof. Last year we did Once on This Island.
