Have the inside skinny from a preview of a show that was really good or is there one you're just dying to attend?

I saw a workshop of

River's End

and the music and story were pretty wonderful. I was wondering how they would creatively stage the river rafting. I bet this show will get picked up.

I recommend it!

I'm quite interested in Flight of the Lawnchair Man. The score - at least, attached to 3hree, I'm not sure about on its own - is pretty good, and Donna Lynne Champlin is amazing.

I got a ticket to see Warrior, which is about the Native American athlete Jim Thorpe, who was denied his Olympic medals because as I recall he has been paid as a professional athlete which was against the rules. Some sort of scandal. I hope the play doesn't turn out to be some racial diatribe, which I'm a bit worried about from its description. I'm much more interested in the man himself and his life.

I've heard some of the songs from "Emerald Man" and really like it quite a bit. It seems like a lot of fun.

Behind the Limelight is about Charlie Chaplin so I have to see it just for that reason.

I wonder what actor will portray Chaplin? He would have to be one hell of a mime.

Behind the Limelight sounds amazing. The score (at least from what has been posted) seems fantastic, and Chaplin is so interesting that I cannot wait to see it. Although Emerald Man has a very clever premise for a musical (A Quixoten update as a Superhero rather than a knight), I found the score to be not that impressive. Parts sounded good, but other parts were just downright awful. I am excited abut Smoking Bloomberg, and am considering Oedipus for Kids! as I think it is a clever concept for an adaptation.

This Gutenberg! The Musical also looked interesting, though I do not have a ticket for it yet.

The Gutenberg was the first printing press, and its first printed book was the Bible.

Rivers End and White Noise are sharing a set and sound designer.. So I think it'll look great. I'll for sure be seeing that.

If you get a chance go see Three Sides, haven't seen it but the writers, Grant Olding and Tody Davies are great guys with lots talent! I'm currently doing a run of their show Yeti: An Abominamusical at the Edinburgh Fringe. Good stuff!

I also have a ticket to see Journey to the West.

It's a musical about Buddhism which the promotional blurb says incorporates Asian theatre techniques. I believe set in China.

I think I'll see pretty much anything that gets recommended to me (or that I get dragged to :P) this year if I have a chance. I will definitely be seeing White Noise. I am also interested in Flight of etc. and I really want to see Emerald Man. Since you recommend that River's End thing, maybe I'll hit that. I do want to see Journey to the West. I'm glad I'm not the only person who's ever thought it might make a good sort of musical and I want to see what they do.

I'm exctied by two shows on completely different ends of the spectrum...GO GO BEACH and KINGDOM.

GGB is a fluffy beach blanket romp. KINGDOM is a Latin Rap musical about gang violence.

I know people who have seen both in readings and say that they are amazing, especially KINGDOM. Plus I like the fact that neither of them have "stars" so I think they deserve a look!
Remember [title of show] (see avatar) did not have stars and did not need stars to become a hit!

Margo, I'm in agreement and understand why you picked five of those. Just curious about Kitty. What attracts you to that one? I'm inclined to make it my sixth pick, based solely on your recommendation, but I'd love to hear your rationale.

No rationale. I haven't seen a workshop or heard any music from it. It just sounded like an interesting idea for a musical when I read the description and I've heard good things about the creative team (book writer David Simpatico is a Larson Award winner).

Two friends of mine are on the Vegas PHANTOM and they got to see a presentation of choreography for JOURNEY TO THE WEST. It's being done by all these people who work for CIRQUE DU SOLEIL. They said it was the most mind blowing thing they ever saw - it had pupperty and martial arts that somehow looked like MTV hip-hop. I didn't really understand what they were talking about but they are both flying to NYC just to see it at the Festival. Are there any names attached to it?
