Don't forget the strange nominations last year... a whole bunch of 9 to 5 and then the critics dumped on the show and 9 to 5 was all but ignored by the Tony's. In other words, Drama Desk doesn't necessarily reflect Tony.

And I think Patti's nomination is very well-deserved. Her Lucia was gutsy, aggressive, tortured and poignant (pretty spot-on if you've seen the film), not to mention quite funny (her bit with the mirror stopped the show). It wasn't her name that earned a nomination. It was the right person in the right role who was very well-directed. Lucia fit her like a glove and she demonstrated the depth of her interpretation from her first number, Time Stood Still.

Untrue! There were lots of nominations for shows from earlier in the season, such as the ones for WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, THE DIVINE SISTER, LOMBARDI, A BRIGHT NEW BOISE, BABY UNIVERSE, THROUGH THE NIGHT, IN TRANSIT, RAIN, Colin Quinn's show, PLAY DEAD, etc.

As regards the love for WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN --I agree. This show did not deserve the critical lambasting it received.
