I had a great time this year!
Bought a giant Book of Mormon poster, Newsies trading cards, Catch Me If You Can poster, Cry-Baby program, paper mill playbills, Gypsy of the Year 2011 dvd, last year's Easter Bonnet dvd, a signed picture of Max Von Essen as Magaldi in Evita, Encores! Bells are Ringing magnet, Phantom 10,000th performance playbill, Squigs How to Succeed and Newsies prints, and more!
and I agree with the poster who wished there was a Book of Mormon table...

Dollypop, that's just cruel. Fantastic, but cruel :) Patti, the first live auctioneer was Lorna Kelly. I thought she was great.
Anyone else as annoyed as I was by the distance between the silent auction and the main drag? I had one or two things in most of the half hour segments I was at least interested in, the first time I tried going over to 44th and scanning tables, I got through four tables before I needed to go back over to the silent auction for the live bidding portion. So I ended up choosing an hour segment where I just didn't bother with the silent auction (and I bought multiple items in the silent portion last year). Silent also seemed to have a lot of problems recognizing people who wanted to give them more money (oh well, saved me a chunk of change for the Magic/Bird basketball, although that one was weird because the auctioneer got confused, and then immediately closed the auction).
I, too, was disappointed with the tables, but I kinda think that was a function of so many shows having closed shortly before the Flea Market. Last year you had the cast of Lysistrata totally working it, cast members of Priscilla at the table or circulating through the crowd till cast call, all those Spiderman kevlar ornaments...just seemed like the shows were hungry and a bit more invested for some reason. But I got some cool stuff that I think my friends will like, and I probably will make the haul out from San Diego again next year...

My best score of the day was the program from the premiere of Lucille Ball in "Mame" at Radio City. Also got the program from the "Funny Girl" movie, a sparkly "Annie" t-shirt, "Annie" scarf, "Ruthless!" playbill with Laura Bell Bundy as Tina, "Hugh Jackman Back on Broadway" window card, free "Sister Act" sippy cup and a lifetime of memories. I do sort of agree that the merchandise was not as robust as usual and that some of it was tremendously overpriced but I think part of it might be that I've been such a loyal customer for so many years that I am running out of swag I want! It was unexpectedly chilly but lovely and sunny.
What were people's opinions of the sort of new way the photos and autographs were done? I noticed you had to pick and couldn't do both. I didn't do either but I am curious as to how it worked out for the greater cause.

I was talking to the sippy cup guy...he has 4000 Sister Act cups to unload. I bought four In The Heights cups for a friend, he offered me four free Sister Act cups, which is how I found out. We'll be seeing those at the Flea Market for a while :)

It seemed to me that people were more pushy this year as well - multiple times, I was going through merchandise at a table and would be roughly pushed aside without so much as an "excuse me."
This year, I spent the entire day at the Flea Market. I had a ton of fun and got to hang out with a bunch of friends. I was really happy with a few of my finds today:
Playbills
Follies Original Broadway Cast
Follies 2001 Revival
Getting Away With Murder
Gypsy Original Broadway Cast
Gypsy with Linda Lavin
A Little Night Music 1974 Cast
The Phantom of the Opera 1995 Cast
Sweeney Todd 2005 Revival Opening Night
Posters
Carrie Revival
An Evening with Patti and Mandy
La Cage Revival
A Little Night Music Revival
Man of La Mancha Revival
I think I spent $60, which was more than I intended to, but it's all for a great cause. And we watched the live auction which was great. I'm surprised that the Les Miz premiere went for so much and that George M. Cohan's shoes went for so little.

It was my first Flea Market experience today, and it was very enjoyable. Maybe I missed a lot of things since I got there after 1 PM. But I still managed to buy a couple of things I'm happy with:
A Beauty and the Beast 10th anniversary keychain, it's beautiful, and according to the guy at the table, it's the last one, so I'm pretty happy about that.
A 2010 Broadway Snowglobe. I also went to the Spin the Wheel thing and went for 5 spins, almost won tickets twice, but the wheel stopped dead right before, so I got a book, Anything Goes temporary tattoo and pin, Lombardi Playbill, 2 random singles & remix CDs. Then I got a free Ghost recording from this super-nice guy who had two. Then I got a How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying Grab bag with Nick Jonas, including a pillow, a magnet, a pin, and a T-shirt. Also two one dollar, super-comfortable T-shirts: A Little Night Music & Hairspray.
I was thinking about getting the Newsies trading cards, but when I decided to get them they were out. Didn't know about the Once coasters and bracelets with the guitar picks on them, I didn't see them (in fact I don't remember passing the Once table at all!), if I did I'd probably have bought them! They sound awesome.
Overall, I had a lot of fun, hopefully I'll make it again next year!

I posted a trading thread if people want to trade tickets and/or merch
This was my first time going to the flea and I must say it was pretty disappointing. I didn't even buy anything although I thought I would want everything.
I agree, a lot of tables with multiples of the same things! Got a little discouraged after awhile of seeing the same stuff. Wicked prices were outrageous! But, people paid them I guess! I did every session of the autograph line, was at the front of line everytime (thanks to my "uncle") did miss soem Bring it on Kids who were late becasue of an appearance we were told, but saw that show already, so not too disappointed. Also missed Brian Stokes Mitchell. I hated that they were pulling people, but the only person I missed was Harvey Fierstein as he was pulled right before I got to him, and the photogs they have interfere with the line! But, a noce volunteer took my posters and had him sign them befor he started pix with people, so my Newsies and event poster look great, I was a happy guy! Also, gave Max Von Essen a donation at the evita table and he signed my flea market poster too! I got some other bonuses from a few celebs just out and about at the market, all were very kind. so disappointed by the merch, but good day overall!
$2000
Does anyone know what the Angela Lansbury lunch went for.
$8000 and they doubled it for two people.
Biggest single bid was for the premiere tickets to the Les Mis movie, which went for $32,000. The Barbra Streisand package went for $20,000 and they were able to double it, so they brought in $40,000.

ALW's The Wizard of Oz CD ($3)

Into the Woods Opening Night Card signed by Donna Murphy ($5)
King and I Revival CD, Anastasia CD, and Hairspray Film CD ($10)
God Awful Cookie ($2) (Really, just horrible)
A SH*T Ton of Playbills ($1) (At wicked table, just before closing, friend and I got near all of the extras for $1, spent the next hour in McDonalds sorting through them all)
Overall, pretty successful.
Did anyone else run into autograph vultures on the autograph line? They had envelopes of pictures that they were going to get signed. I'm sure that's what they spent most of their day doing. I mean, I know they donated the money to get everything. But, in the same instance it kind of makes me sick that they will now make a profit from selling their stuff.
Ive never seen anything wrong with people selling signed things. If people can't get to events like this or to a stage door and find signed memorabilia for sale, whats the harm? I've bought autographs online before and I love having them. I know I'll never be able to get those items signed personally so it's a win/win.
I agree with both the above posters, I see both sides. I have things in my collection that I've gotten online and I also love them! I try to stick to the charity ebay auctions, but I can't deny sometimes others have better deals. I think the real issue is those with the photos who are selling them to the perople in line for $10 a pop, I'd be willing to bet BCEFA will never see that money, and I think that should indeed be monitored at the line. Just get a booth for God's sake, especially if it is in fact for charity, the fact they don't leads me to believe otherwise.
I guess I never thought about it in either sense either. I guess it is better that these people actually went through the line to obtain the signatures instead of standing outside the booth waiting and obtaining them without paying or getting others to do it for them.
And, my Come Fly Away window card is now available, if anyone wants it. Just the window card. Will give it away for free for pick up only. I don't live in NYC, but I will be back on Wednesday night through Thursday early afternoon, if that works.

I got a Triassic Parq poster too, and I turned around and Alex Wyse was right there! I was so happy!
I also got a bunch of keychains, and one of them was a Speed the Plow keychain from 2008 with Raul Esparza that looks like a ticket. I think it was an openeing night gift...but I'm not sure. A friend of mine later told me she saw the same keychain at another booth where they asked for $6. I got mine for >$5 (the table sold keychains at 3 for $5). Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I met a few of the photo/autograph hounds on the autograph line and they were genuinely nice people. It's a hobby that they're very passionate about and they do it very well; I asked them if they sell the pictures online and they said they sometimes do, but they usually just keep them for themselves. The collections they have must be worth thousands. On the autograph line twice they were respectful of the two items only limit, and when they saw I didn't have pictures to be signed (I bought the flea market poster, which I was fine with so I wouldn't have a million different signed pictures to carry around) they gladly gave me a number of beautiful extras they had that the actors were very impressed with. Charles Busch especially loved the photo I had him sign.
