pleasantly surprised about Color Purple over She Loves Me, and ECSTATIC "Bridge" actually won!!! I figured it would have been out of the running because it closed so long ago, so happy it's receiving it's dues!!

Exactly. You join right now at a rate of $12 and have voting privileges for next year.

It's actually a pretty awesome deal to join the League! $500 for 4 house seats. Wow!

Clarification: It is $12/month or $125/year plus other levels. If you are a member only for the month of July 2016 you will be unable to vote for next year's awards. I think I will look into making myself a member. I may not be 'industry' but I'm a theater fan and pay to support theater lol From their website it looks like there are many Broadway actors/actresses who are members

I'm a member at the second level up and am happy to know its supporting the arts. Membership has a few nice benefits including some discounts for restaurants and parking as well as early access to tickets for League events. I probably don't even take advantage of most benefits but I do utilize the tickets feature sometimes. Generally it's a nice discount (like discounted Book of Mormon tickets for early July) but sometimes the shows end up having publicized discounts that are lower.

Lin Manuel Miranda is now a distinguished performance award winner. Angela Lansbury is not. Let that one sink in.

LMM's win is a classic example of cognitive biases in effect.

Does anyone on the $500 level know if it's possible to get 4 house tickets for Miss Saigon next year?

"It's like Hamilton overload."
You think?
But this can offer a lesson to us all. Even if you go only an inch too far, that inch can soon expand into a foot, and then a mile, and then the distance from here to the moon. And there won't be a thing that anyone can do to stop it.
The moral? Don't give an inch. And don't go along with anyone who tries to pass off dross as gold.

It's called being a fan of something, you should try it sometime.
And no I don't take it seriously, I wouldn't have cared whoever won the distinguished performance award.

Okay, well I'd be interested in seeing you post more about the stuff you like instead of coming into certain threads just to make snide comments about the things you don't like.

I wonder if this means Lin is the front runner for the lead actor Tony. I was really hoping for Leslie.

Ask Alfred Molina what correlation there is between the Distinguished Performance Award and the Tony.

And Chita! Hope that proves true again as I really want Leslie to win. I would not be surprised if Lin wants Leslie to too!

LMM may not win over Leslie at the Tony's but he may have competition with Danny (probably a sentimental fave like Kelli last year). May not be a popular opinion on this board but couldn't rule out that possibility.
LMM will be rewarded in other ways (Book and Score) at the Tony's

I do, and often, eg. Mary, Mary, Dear World, 70, Girls, 70...
"instead of coming into certain threads just to make snide comments about the things you don't like."
You mean like coming into the Finding Neverland closing thread to denigrate Gary Barlow's music? Sorry, that's not my style. (And that's quite the glass house you're living in.) I don't come into a thread to make snide remarks. That's not worth either my time or effort. I post to share knowledge, to discuss, and to provide some balance, context, perspective ... --- things that are all too often missing from discussions here. Most of all, after decades of theatregoing, I have witnessed how things have (d)evolved, have seen and duly noted the causes, and have drawn the appropriate lessons therefrom. These too, I share, as lessons for the future. For the well being of our theatre, please let us learn from them.

I'm pretty sure that Finding Neverland comment is the only one I have ever made that is outwardly negative about a show. Whereas I've never seen any of your positive comments. There's a difference. But this is off-topic now.
