Noms are being announced as I write this (started at 11 a.m.). Let's see what utterly weird things they do this year.

Wildly confused about eligibility for these. American Psycho and Waitress were both considered and have yet to open, but Shuffle Along, which has also yet to open, will be considered for next season's awards. ???
Most likely because the producers of Shuffle Along didn't want the OCC nominees invited yet.
Dear Evan Hansen is also eligible. (?) https://twitter.com/MrDavidGordon/status/722402424359645184

2St/Stacey Mindich invited them to DEH but Scott Rudin & co did not invite them to Shuffle Along. Simple enough.
Didn't realize old white men liked On Your Feet so much.
Less wacky than the OCC nominations in most years, maybe because a number of the presumed Tony heavy hitters were not eligible. The only completely inexplicable snub I see is Tim Piggot-Smith for King Charles III.
I'm surprised School of Rock didn't do better.
I still expect it to snag a best musical Tony nom.

I knew someone was missing. Yeah, that's absurd.

Somewhat surprised Es Devlin was not nominated for her scenic design for American Psycho, the lighting and projections would not nearly be as effective without her design.
Was Noises Off ineligible? I'm surprised it was so snubbed, particularly in the featured acting categories.
Also surprised by the School of Rock near shut-out
Surprised that Jennifer Hudson was snubbed!

I completely forgot about that. That is weird.
So Roger Bart got nominated...but Jennifer Simard didn't?

Again, nobody is reading the fine print. Jennifer Simard was not eligible this year because she was in it off Broadway.

Excuse me for living. I forgot she was the only person they kept.
Fine, then Disaster getting any noms is a joke.

Considering that the only eligible "Leading Actress" from HAMILTON is Philippa Soo (Read back to the original Tony Nominating Committee Rulings for this year), I wonder if she'll bump anyone from this list come Tony time, because it looks like a solid lineup that I don't see changing at all, especially because Audra is also on the shortlist for a nomination, but didn't show up here

She will bump Villafañe.
Audra didn't show up here because the Shuffle Along team decided to be considered next season than invite the OCC voters to performances before the show is frozen.

Ana Villafane won't be nominated for a Tony over Pippa.
My question remains, will Audra be considered lead or featured? If the former, what will that stacked category look like? In my opinion, it is all but guaranteed Philippa Soo will bump Ana, but that fifth/sixth spot is enough to turn my stomach (PS, yay Carmen Cusack! Hoping she remains on all these lists).

I'm happy to see Spring Awakening getting some recognition, such a beautiful show that really resonated with me.

I liked Bright Star but 7 noms?
I too am surprised by the lack of nominations for School of Rock. I really enjoyed it. I haven't seen Tuck Everlasting yet. Will see that on Saturday. But, at least here, it isn't getting favorable reviews. So, I find that interesting.
