I too am surprised by the lack of nominations for School of Rock. I really enjoyed it. I haven't seen Tuck Everlasting yet. Will see that on Saturday. But, at least here, it isn't getting favorable reviews. So, I find that interesting.

Best book seems weird. I liked Lazarus but not so much the book. On Your Feet was a lot of fun but the book was the weakest part. I haven't seen Bright Star but I keep hearing the book is the weakest part of that as well.
Surprised by some of the omissions mentioned above, most notably for Noises Off in acting. But I'm happy to see so many of the Eclipsed ladies recognizes--especially Zainab Jah who I thought was stellar.

In my opinion, it is all but guaranteed Philippa Soo will bump Ana, but that fifth/sixth spot is enough to turn my stomach (PS, yay Carmen Cusack! Hoping she remains on all these lists)."
They haven't done the final round of eligibility which include "Shuffle Along" but having seen it this past weekend, I can't imagine her not making lead. It's a solid performance with some great numbers, a lot of stage time, and she's the top-billed performer.
I've been predicting Benanti, Erivo, McDonald, Mueller, and Soo. Which is a shame for Cusack, who was wonderful.
Well, remember that a tie is now a possibility for the nominations, so there's a legitimate chance that Cusack gets in along with those five ladies. I do think that's going to be a tough category to crack but the nominating committee has previously nominated working actors who make a splashy Broadway debut in a flop, Jessie Mueller's nomination for ON A CLEAR DAY and Nick Cordero's nomination for BULLETS come to mind.

Also, Carolee's role & performance in Scandalous was similar to what Carmen is doing this season.
^ Plus, their initials are both CC.

I refuse to live in a world where Carmen Cusack is not nominated for that performance. If there was ever a year for a tie in the nominations...

I love me some Carolee but, come on. To compare Bright Star to Scandalous (and to compare the leading ladies' respective performances) is ridiculous.
I, too, don't want to live in a world in which Cusack is snubbed of a Tony nom!
Not that the OCCs ever mean anything, but it is very strange to leave off Tim Piggott-Smith for King Charles III, as well as everyone from Noises Off.
Great to see Nicola Walker nominated, thought she would be overlooked in this category.

...how? I disliked both shows, and both leading ladies named CC carried and elevated a bad show. I can compare whatever I want.
Jennifer Hudson and Noises Off snubs are real surprises for me. I also haven't seen or heard about Robert Creighton in Cagney, but was that really better than Zachary Levi's She Loves Me performance?
I love that Michael Arden is getting some recognition for Spring Awakening. I hope tony voters follow suit.

A tad extreme. Just a tad.
No choreo nod for Fiddler?

Surprised at the lack of nominations for Fiddler, especially direction and choreography. Also surprised that Jessie Nelson didn't get a nomination for Waitress' book.
The OCC is not a good indicator of how the Tonys will go. Or a good indicator of anything, really.
Way to go American Psycho, surprised it didn't get book or set though

The more I look at the book of a musical category, the more bizarre it gets. Nothing for American Psycho or Waitress, but On Your Feet which has a terrible book is nominated? Yeah. OK.
I wouldn't take these nominations too seriously, the OCCs usually have at least a few snubs/nominations that are deeply confusing. I affectionately call them the Outer Space Awards but they usually have little to no bearing on Tony nominations.
There was no nomination for the male lead in She Loves Me nor for Gavin. Was this expected?
Interesting to see Annaleigh Ashford snubbed for "Sylvia". Love that Hélene Yorke got a nomination, though. Very deserved.

Can't understand how the incomparable John received neither best play nor best director nominations. It had so many people in its thrall. How can a thrall pall so quickly?
Gavin Creel seemed to be the only She Loves Me cast member to not receive outright raves (though I really enjoyed his work) so his omission doesn't really surprise me, but I wish Zachary Levi had been included. Georg isn't quite the role that Amalia is, but he's every bit Benanti's equal in terms of the quality of work, and I hope he's included by the Tonys.
