Diana Rigg doesn't even sing a word in MFL.

That is a good point. I think even though Kristoff is technically the most leading male role, I would say it's the same size as Emmett in Legally Blonde being a love interest for the leading lady with a much bigger part - and would understand if he is considered supporting as Christian Borle was in 2007.
I honestly think the only lead role in that show is Anna and Patti Murin should definitely be nominated. Now that I've finally seen Frozen the musical, the way that the story is structured on stage (and in the film) makes Elsa a supporting character. It just gets confusing to us because Elsa was introduced to the world with Idina Menzel's voice which is the definition of powerhouse. I personally think the only way Caisie Levy has a chance at getting nominated is if Elsa is considered featured (and she should be! She is terrific!)
Someone in a Tree2 said: "I think Hailey Kilgore is up against the fact that Ti Moune is not really a starring role in OOTI. She's offstage for the first 2 songs, and only gets one pure solo from beginning to end. Everything else she sings is part of various ensemble pieces. I thought she was just dazzling, but unluckily in a company chock full of dazzlements.
Frankly even Dena is not truly a starring part in THE BAND'S VISIT (she's also offstage for large swaths of the proceedings), but she certainly gets all the best songs, her imprint on the evening isastonishing, and no other woman get to shine like she does, so the evening certainly belongs to Katrina Lenk, hands down.
Much as I loved Lauren Ambrose in MFL(whichreallyisthestarring role of thatpiece), the magnetic field that is Katrina Link will carry the day on Tonys Night.
"
Not true about Hailey Kilgore. She plays Ti Moune's birth mom in the 2nd song.

Honestly, Diana Rigg didn't make the most out of her time as Mrs. Higgins, and we've seen better Mrs. Higgins in the past. It is hard enough to get a nomination from a non-singing and/or non-dancing part in a musical, but for a part that has about 5 minutes (if that) of stage time and no real monologue or scene chewing qualities, I just don't see how this will lead to a nomination other than a serious lack of competitors (not the case here) and/or name-recognition alone. However, the Tonys seem less inclined to give a nomination to a big (outside of theatre) name than the Emmys do.

Noy singing a note has not stopped others from winning or being nominated in this or Leading category.
It's the mooossst wonderful tiiiime of the year! Thanks for the polls!
Really, though... until the Tony Committee meets about Frozen & Mean Girls, it's too tough to fill these categories out (specially Lead/Featured Actress) without knowing who will be eligible for what.
Incidentally... does anyone know when that's happening? I feel like there are usually four meetings, right? (Does that depend on the number of eligible shows?) They obviously can't meet about Mean Girls until after it opens, but May 1st is coming up pretty soon and I feel like there's more up in the air than usual for early April.
JudyDenmark, I think somebody saw that last year, a rulings announcement came out the first Thursday of April. Hopefully we’ll have this season’s penultimate round by the end of this week!

Fingers crossed! Maybe they'll wait until Monday, that way they can put all of our predicting minds at ease with rulings on both of those shows. :)

I didn't say it never happened, but that it is by far the exception rather than the rule. Add in the other factors I spoke about with regard to Diana Rigg as Mrs. Higgins getting a nomination.

It's been on the first Thursday of April at least the last two years, so chances are good it will be this Thursday.

Hello again! Because this seems to have been received fairly well again and because I had some time tonight, I decided to make nomination polls for the remaining categories. There were a few areas where I had to guess placement (Springsteen, Home for the Holidays, Lithgow, and Rocktopia) as well as acting placements for Saint Joan, Angels in America, Lobby Hero, and Harry Potter. Sometimes you will see a nominee placed in multiple categories (i.e. Nathan Lane as lead and featured). Enjoy!

I know this will never happen, but I would LOVE for Adam Kantor to get a nomination for The Band's Visit. As crazy as it sounds, his performance was my favorite.

Not crazy at all - he was great! If it doesn't happen (which... you're right that it won't), it's only because there are only five slots and there are others who are more likely to get it from that show, not because he doesn't deserve it. An embarrassment of riches is a good problem for a show to have. I feel that way about most of the cast of Once On This Island.

Everyone seems to have a ton of opinions about Tony nominations so I wanted to go ahead and make a few polls just to gauge where the prospective nominees stand. It could be fun to see what happens when the nominees are announced. Please votehowever you desire (i.e. who you think will be nominated or what we personally like the most). Feel free to participate! Polls close on May 1.
