Which means they can give all the tickets away to the cast if they wanted. There is no actionable cause here. Plus, you'd have to prove that it was rigged, and with a lottery like this, you'd have no chance. Plus, you have must have damages, which you don't have, so you couldn't win anything since you didn't lose any money.

Next time I lose the ACL lottery, I'll just start singing "And I am Telling You" and they'll just have to give me a ticket.
Best. Thread. Ever.
This thread is getting more and more hilarious; misdemeanor, subtrafuge, such language!!

I did the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' lotto when it was running and my mother talked to the lotto guy and stuff, and we were the first name drawn. I know it's not "fair" but it's not like he HAD to pick us.

So basically next time someone posts a thread saying "I NEED HELP WITH THE WICKED LOTTO ASAP!!!!!!!!!" We should just tell them to show a little nipple? Or a little shoulder?
Like I said, WaltSummers, you freak out about the ACL lotto possibly being rigged for cast members' families, but you had no problem accepting those tickets to DRS all 8 times. Now who's hypocritical?

Nipple? At a broadway lottery?
Tell 'em to flash a little ass. Male ass!
oh, SNAP! WaltSummers, you got pwned!
I was joking about implying I got the tickets by flirting. Sheesh.
I was there on Saturday night and there were probably closer to 50 or 60 people there. Like I said, I wasn't aware of Alisan being outside until someone in line behind me pointed it out.
However, the previous time I tried it, as I stated before, a girl who obviously knew the woman running the lotto (I'm not saying she's not nice...she's VERY nice, but that doesn't mean she might not be exactly honest) came in with her parents and introduced them along with "We're going to TRY this. It'll be their first show..." While the rest of us folded our own index cards ~ short-wise then long-wise), the woman took the girl and her family's cards and folded them long wise then short wise, which gave them a different feel. It was cold, so they were all drawn inside. There were probably 40-50 people there that night trying. One random name was drawn, then IN A ROW the girl's mother, the girl's father, the girl's brother (or friend I'm not sure which), and then the woman looked at the girl and asked if that got them all in.
Again, I'm not saying she's not a nice woman. She is very nice and helpful. I was first in line for standing room and she even found someone to stand behind me to buy my friend a ticket (I gave her the money...but they were only selling them as singles) and was concerned when my friend was running late. But it was pretty obvious that girl and her family didn't just magically win all their tickets right in a row.
I dont think its an unreasonable expectation to want to know how many seats are genuinely up for grabs when entering a lotto, most lottos Ive entered do this and it would be nice if the number announced to the crowd accounted for the number of tix the lottery person was planning to give to a cast member, even if theyre there last minute. People tend to try to keep track of how many names have been pulled and how good their chances are based on number of people there, so its nice when you know just how many spots are available but in the end whether theyre pulled ahead of time, or the lottery is rigged, the chances of winning that day havent changed, just your knowledge of the situation has changed.
"the chances of winning that day havent changed, just your knowledge of the situation has changed."
Right! And that is the issue for me. If I have the correct information, I can make a better decision about whether or not I want to stay and take a chance. I come in from out of town and sometimes decide to see a show at the last minute. If I know ahead that my chances are only 1 in 10 rather than the advertised 1 in 20, in the midst of a crowd of 40, I may decide to run over to another show's lottery where my chances might be better.
Denying me that correct information, the theatre is wasting my time. I might stay and end up not getting a ticket to any show because I spent my time waiting for a rigged lottery.
It's not about who the lottery is rigged for. I don't care about how cast members' friends get tickets. For all I care, they can have the first ten rows free, in a basket with a flower. All I care about is not being deceived...and love.
^ I think that's the point everyone was trying to make all day. Well put.

It seems to me that the people complaining are the ones that have already seen the show multiple times. Jeez, let some other peopel see it and stop filling up the lotto.

I was turned away from the Chorus Line lotto and have yet to have a real burning desire to try again.
Besides I've heard it's completely forgettable and almost exactly the same as the original production. Why even bother paying 25 bucks for something you can see at a community/regional theatre for a fraction of the price? Same thing with the Les Miz revival.
