Okay, So I'm almost finished reading Anthony Rapp's book Without You... and I think its incredible! It's so descriptive and really gives a great inside on his life as well as the entire process of Rent, especially about Johnathan Larson. I love it!
Wondering what everybody thinks of it?

REMEMBER THE LOVE, guys
Deep breaths. It's all good. We're all cool.
Let's talk about his book
I loved it. I was shocked and happy with his candor and loved his sense of humor and maturity. He really took a chance at being so openly descrriptive with his love life and told a wonderful story. I loved all the behind the scenes/backstage/history of RENT straight from him!
The guy is awesome

I adored the memoir! It is a fantastic story with so much heart.
I'm not going to lie, I bought it to learn more about the creative process involved in "Rent," but what I got was a great story of a man's life.
I read the book in one night, I just picked it up and couldn;t stop. I read many many many books and this one really sticks out to me.

There are unedning threads about this.
Anthony is awesome. Very super awesome.
I think Rappy is a more annoying nickname than A-Rapp. (There is this crazy girl on myspace who calls him that... it's frightening.) Though personally I'll stick with Anthony.

What is with the weird nicknames?
Insightful.
Yes, I loved the book. I zoomed through it the first time because I was reading a borrowed advanced copy that needed to be returned to its owner, so I've been meaning to read it again now that I have my own.

I really enjoyed it. I love how he was so open and honest about some of the most personal and not always nice parts of his life. That took guts. He is a gifted writer and a very busy person. I hope he has been getting some rest after the movie, book, and Rent 10-year celebrations.
I had the pleasure of attending one of his talks/book signings a few days before the 10 year show, and he is just as charming a speaker as he is a writer, and a nice, friendly person.

"A Rapp" keeps making me think, like, "That's a wrap!" which would just be an awful pun, so I'm really sorry about saying it.
I thought the book was pretty good. I've actually been meaning to re-read it, too. I have to say, it sort of turned me into an Anthony Rapp fan, I hadn't formerly been very impressed with him. It's definitely a good read.

Posted: 6/22/06 at 10:55amHis book was incredibly moving and I couldn't get through the chapter when Jonathan Larson died and when Anthony's mother died. I was bawling like a baby. I mean, you see him sing and he's great. Writing is just one of those things you'd never imagine him doing but you're glad he did it. Sorry that makes absolutely no sense! I actually had the honor to meet him in Allentown at the Civic theater after Tick Tick Boom. He's such a sweet guy. Except for the fact that I giggled like an idiot in front of him, it was a great experience. His book is amazing and I'm in the process of re reading it.

I bought it for mostly the same reason, WickedGeek. But everything but was flat-out amazing. Who knew Anthony could write? I suppose he & Adam (his brother) both have writing genes in them.
BTW, I think you can buy a pack of CDs where you can listen to Anthony read the book.
ETA: With the Rappy nickname: In the book, Anthony mentions somebody that calls him Rappy. So maybe that's where the girl got it from.

Also- does anyone know where I can get his CD? I had it, but... yeah
Or can someone help me out? Please PM me if you can

I was sobbing and SOBBING after I read the book. He is such a soulful guy. When I saw him perform in Tribeca, I heard him do a song about his mom. It was so sweet, though his mic was screwy, so I couldn't hear the words that well. But just the thought was sweet.
This man has so much talent, let's hope a workshop of his will get on broadway!

Posted: 6/22/06 at 8:03pmI read it in two days, I really enjoyed it! A-Rapp is by far the funniest nickname I have ever heard for him. I once called him Rappo. I think it was around 3:30 AM and I also remember being sick that morning. But yes, Anthony is a fantastic person. I met him also. He's very nice.
