Does anyone know if this is exactly the same edition they are sending for the PBS pledges? I'd love to have the pictures from the production that are included.
Just realized that my question was worded poorly, so I just edited

Posted: 12/19/09 at 4:40amI'm starting to think the album producers are getting some kind of sick pleasure out of waiting as long as they can to announce the last details of the CD release. It's getting boring.

Cats, from what I infered, I think the products might be packaged and sent by them (meaning the creative/producing team), not a third party. They are probably trying to keep the budget going, and doing a lot themselves.
I know what you mean about the waiting, because I ordered mine a while back, and still have no clue when I will get it. When budget is tight, things might not run as smootly, unfortunately, and they might not even know themselves when they can put the CD out, exactly.
I just want to get mine already...maybe then I will answear my own question :I

Posted: 12/19/09 at 7:53amI understand that, but surely there are somethings they could announce like a track list and a projected release date? Initially they were saying the people who pledged during the PBS broadcast would get their CDs before Christmas and now it's looking like that won't happen so just an update would be nice even if they're still not quite sure about the details.

Merely your opinion, Yankee. I, and many, many others (including overseas, it seems), happen to appreciate the hauntingly beautiful melodies Jill's music possesses. Again, nothing will ever be 100% for everyone, as people are as diverse as snowflakes (not calling anyone a flake here, now
), so we should try to be respectful of every artist's and musicians' work, by exposing our opinions in a more constructive way.
Cats, again, I agree you have a point there. They could try to post some indication of what's going on, just as a courtesy to their fans.

Ok Cats, Bway Babe and company - i'm home for 24 hours on a rare break from cd post production and able to do a little catching up - what do you wanna know?
First, no discourtesy has been intended in our not releasing specifics and we're certainly not getting any sick pleasure out of torturing anyone- we truly have not known the specifics previously. Secondly, Bway Babe you're on the money about the nature of the endeavor - we're producing, editing, designing ourselves and there are literally 2-4 people doing all of it - so I'm sure you can imagine! I myself have been basically living at my orchestrator/co-producer/engineer/mixer's (yes this man can do it all!) house for the past 2 weeks. My feeling is that you all would rather have the very best recording we can give you and not just one that's rushed out the door to get it in the mail to you - I hope you guys will agree and can be patient a little longer. It's also my understanding that everybody who's called to pledge PBS was told 6 to 10 weeks for delivery - and so that's the deadline we've been working under - and unless the people who do the actually shipping (we don't have to do that THANK GOD) drop the ball, everybody should be getting their stuff no more than 6 weeks from the date they order it and probably sooner.
Here's the track list as it currently stands - though in just the past 24 hours it has changed again due to the fact that we have more music that we would have liked to include than the 80 minute format will allow us to include. So we're still trying to figure things out in that dept. this list comes out to about 79 minutes and 50 seconds!

Thank you Jill. And might I suggest that any extra material that doesn't fit on the CD be available as bonus tracks for the digital release on itunes and the like? If there are even plans to make the CD available on itunes? I'm not sure what that would entail or if it would cost more money, but that would be awesome.

I agree with CATS, that would indeed be GREAT if whatever material does not make the CD due to space constraints, be available to us for download. Myself, and many others I know, would buy the tracks in a second! If not iTunes, maybe mp3 downloads from the website, I remember through the "online store" at talemusical.com you could order the original concept through paypal. Maybe just offer the tracks extra tracks as mp3 downloads on there and charge through paypal.:) I'm sure broadwayworld.com would announce such a thing too. Just a suggestion. :) Thanks so much Jill.
I am very happy that it looks like most of the material is on there though. The only things I notice that aren't present are Shadows of the Night, the little Christmas tune "Bless This Night", I Always Knew (Darnay), and wasn't there a little reprise the of "The Way it Ought to Be" after Reflection? I assume this is the cut material we're speaking of? Was all of that recorded?

Wasn't "Bless the Night" just another little tidbit of "Round & Round"?
"The Way It Ought To Be" Mme DeFarge reprise was after Reflection from what I remember!
THanks for posting the song list Jill! Upsetting it won't be here before Christmas, but atleast it's coming
!

Posted: 12/19/09 at 11:43pmWasn't there also a reprise of "No Honest Way" after "Everything Stays the Same"? That seems to be the only thing missing from the second act.

You are obviously a shill for the hopelessly untalented wanna-be of this swill.

JillS, perhaps you'd be better off learning how to read bass clef and taking some basic music theory/composition lessons rather than wasting precious time in a studio or on a message board.

Posted: 12/19/09 at 11:58pmThe show closed. What could possibly be gained from shilling? There hasn't even been any sort of confirmation on an official release for the CD and DVD except to confirm that everything is still up in the air. I don't see the advantages of a shill at this point.

Enchanted - i'll put my challenged bass clef reading up against any alleged musicianship of yours any day of the week. name the time and place - seriously. in the meantime, you should try not being so bitter and angry about me personally - you will age prematurely and end up unhappier than you already are. and insulting me for reading and posting something on a chat board? while you hide behind your anonymous chat board identity - and read and post stuff on a chat board? hmmm.

"Do you know if the rights to Tale will ever be released for amateur productions?"
madscientist: There was a regional production in Cherry Hill, NJ (across the river from Philly) using the Broadway sets, costumes, etc. put on by mainly high school and college students. I can't comment on the future of the regional rights, nor do I know if Jill can, but it seems like they'd be released eventually! I hope so anyway!

yes, we do plan to put the extra stuff on itunes eventually. we did not have time to record Madame's "way it ought to be" reprise, Round and Round (or Bless this Fine Night - which you're right - is a part of round and round) or the No Honest Way reprise in London. but we got everything else - about 32 pieces of music.
the dvd does have 3 additional pieces, Carton's first Act II, "if dreams came true " reprise, then Darnay's portion of that reprise and then Lucie's song "Without a Word" is added at the end of the dvd.
