There’s even gonna be a ribbon cutting, how dramatic. This seems like something ABC7 news covers during the day, so hopefully it’ll get a lot of free media attention. The cast will be there and a brass band playing and drums. They’ll be handing out branded handkerchiefs. I also didn’t realize that this show is included in a roundabouts subscription packages. So hopefully that helps get more buns in seats.
Did anyone go for the box office opening? I showed up around 10:15 am and there was not a single person in line. Got my tickets and left. Not sure it was a great idea to open in the middle of the work week, on the morning of the 1st day of school. But alas...
There was a big parade heading towards the box office at that time. They started at 10, James Monroe gave a little speech to the press, and they did multiple dance break stops on the streets. It looked like a lot of fun from the photos and videos I saw. Music and dancing and stuff. If they can get all those people who saw the wiz to see this, they shouldn’t have a hard time staying open. I saw Kenny Leon was there.

If their parade began at 10am, I'd assume people followed the parade to the box office. So they likely had people show up once the parade was over.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Why would first day of school matter? Are there an unusually large number of middle & high school kids who are really into Louis Armstrong??
Doing it on a Saturday probably would have been a lot better for people. Weekday mornings, people have work and school. But this seems like it was mostly for the press anyway. And now people can still buy the cheap tickets through the 7th anyway.

Huh? People who have kids and go to work every day are normally very busy on weekdays, especially in the mornings. I'm pretty sure buying a Broadway ticket on the morning of school and work is the last thing on a working parent agenda. Or just a working person without any kids.
You didn't have to ask this question, because it's pretty obvious isn't it?
