Seconding starlight's question.
And b-way buff, can you prove this in any way? I don't really believe it.

OMG, my sister-in-law's ex-boyfriend's roommate's nephew's dog walker's mother saw ALL OF THE OBC SIGNING CONTRACTS TO BE IN TEH MOVIE!!1!!
Sorry, but this is so typical of every anticipated movie I've seen.

can i prove that i spoke with adams wife this morning and that she told me about the movie?? um no. i dont walk around with a tape recorder. adams kids go to a kids gym next to one of my businesses plus adam and his wife have been customers of mine in my business for about the last year and a half.
if u choose not to believe me thats up to. i have no reason to make things up. I thought some people would be as happy as i was to hear this information but apparently not.
i dont understand why so many of u people r such a--holes. i was just trying to provide some info that i thought people would be happy about. i see adam and his wife at least 2 times a week, and i usualy talk to them about quite alot going on in the theater world. ill save my time and keep my info to myself.
Seriously, I don't see why anyone should be jumpong on B-Way Buff's case? Did this person tell you that the entire OBC was going to be in the movie? No. Did he or she say Adam HAS the role of Roger for the film adaptation? No. They saw Adam's wife, spoke to her, and was kind enough to report back. Lay off.
Smile b-way buff...I appreciate your info. Thanks for sharing!!
Interesting information, but I think most of you are jumping to conclusions too quickly -- not just about the probability of the OBC reprising their roles (not likely, especially if Antonique Smith and Angelina Jolie remain options for Mimi and Maureen) but also about the extent to which you would enjoy seeing the OBC star in the film. I suspect that most of you base your opinions of the original cast on the two-disc recording. The reality is that when they performed live, not all of the cast members received rave reviews for their performances. Anthony Rapp especially had trouble with the songs.
I suspect that original cast members are either auditioning just so Columbus can say "I considered X, Y and Z for this role but ultimately chose Q" or so that Columbus can assign one or two of them to cameo roles. Serious consideration for them as leads would probably just be a sign that Columbus has been reading message boards and giving in to the outrageous demands of Rentheads -- which I think he'll be above in the end.

Very good point, Evelyn.
b-way, I never intended that as a hostile question. Wouldn't you ask if you were us? People make stuff up. Maybe you did, maybe you didn't. I was just seeing. No need to call us all 'a--holes'.
I think Chloe got it right the first time. First of all, the information could be true but can't be verified, and b-way buff: since this is a message board and virtually anyone can go on this and type whatever they want, I think you'd have to expect that some people will be skeptical about what you said, simply because there's no way of knowing. There's no need for anyone to be rude about it of course, but surely you can't expect everything to be taken at face value?
And again, if it's true he's in talks with Columbus, doesn't necessarily mean he'll get cast. We'll just have to wait and see.

Not jumping on any cases/making any assumptions...
But, I do find it a little bit suspect that information like this - information that is alledgedly shared on what seems to be a pretty personal basis - is being paraded around online, especially when it's in the very early stages, if at all. Sometimes, certain things might not exactly be for public consumption. Discretion needs to be used....
Do I have reservations? Yes. But how much can you trust what you hear online?
bway-buff... I don't really think that people were mad that you shared... but you do need to understand that sometimes it's hard to give merit to stuff you see online.
That said, I have plenty of thoughts about the idea itself, but I'll be keeping those to myself for now.
i get pissed off casue i have better things to do with my time then sit here and fight with poeple and defend myself. if lucky enough to have met adam and his wife and his amazing 2 sons. i choose to share certain things with u guys. i dont expect to be attacked and have the validity of my post be questioned.
Sorry, have I missed anything here? When did anyone 'attack' b-way buff? Yes, people were asking and wondering ... but at what stage did you feel you were being attacked?
I believe you need to get a thicker skin if you want to continue not getting upset on an anonymous board (where people tend to go slightly over the top)

"i dont expect to be attacked and have the validity of my post be questioned."
Unfortunately, that's what you get on an anonymous forum. Sad but true, isn't it?
This isn't anything personal, it's just a fact of the matter... it's hard to trust anyone who just pops up with information that we can't confirm. If we ran around trusting everything that everyone said, where would we be? Let's see.... we'd think John Stamos was starring in Fiddler and that Wicked was already closed.
i dont think posting the fact that adam is in l.a. meeting with chris colombus is parading something around. had cybele asked me not to say something i certainly would honor her request. i dont think is suposed to be something thats secret.
and as for everyone saying that evryone is too old to star in the movie dont u think its possible that the charachters could be in their early 30's. does it matter. ITS A MUSICAL isnt the most important part of A MUSICAL the MUSIC and the quality of SINGING. i saw rent 9 time with the OBC and i have to say i cant see anyone else in their respective roles.

Certainly not attacked, and reading the posts above, I don't think most were attacking. But as to the validity of your post being questioned, expecting NOT to have it questioned is unrealistic. How are people supposed to just take your posts as the definite word? For god's sakes, there are people here claiming to be 10 year olds asking for free oversized bras! (*edit: and now she's pregnant to boot!)

Hmmm... I'm just not too sure if she expected to read her conversation with you two minutes later on a message board.
QM
Amasis, QM, I love you two. Great minds...
Anyway, bway-buff, just because she didn't ask you not to say anything means you can? If this is how it sounds - a very prelimary step in whatever casting process might be going on - it may not be information that should be put out on the internet for everyone to see. Honestly, that's kind of disrespectful, whether you were explicitly asked or not.
i would hardly say that i posted entire conversation. i posted on fact about adam. our conversation lasted about 30 min and we discussed many other things that i choose not to discuss on a message board!!
i guess i should expect to find soooo many damn DRAMA QUEENS on a boradway message board!! LMAO
well u know what emcee maybe i shouldnt have said anything, but its people such as yourself, whom i know love adam, that i was posting the info for and come thursday when i see adam or his wife i will ask if they take issue with the post and i will let all of u know what they have to say about it.
Forget guys, no need to get into this any further. I'm out of here...
I find you posts always just a tiny bit disturbing anyway, b-way buff, saying things like 'their amazing sons' etc. If you are so in with them, please be more professional about it.
EDIT TO ADD: Your last post underlined my point. Asking them if they had a problem with your post??????????
I'm out of this thread.
DRAMAQM
b-way buff - I'm speaking only for myself here, but I'll say that I didn't think the initial post was terrible. If you feel you want to share information, that's great. If it was a secret, I'd think Pascal's wife would be very careful whom she shares the information with. But you getting all upset about a few people questioning the validity of your information, on an anonymous message board, is a tad ridiculous. Updated On: 10/19/04 at 10:04 PM
Drama Queen? *bows* That's certainly a new one.
Maybe they'll think it's "cute." Interesting that you will check after the fact...
Look, I have no way of knowing how Adam would feel about all of this. But personally, I feel like there are certain things that should be shared with discretion. And you know what? That's just me. C'est la vie, let's get on with it.
Hey...wow, I missed alot.
I started thinking while reading the thread. (shocking I know...:) )Anyway, we have heard that several other actors, OBC of RENT included, that have auditioned for the movie and went unquestioned. Why? I think it is because how we found out, Euan mentioned that he and Raul auditioned at Seth's Chatterbox, Anthony Rapp has told several people at the stage door of LSoH, and there was an interview online with Jai on the subject. I think, because you, b-waybuff (and i mean no disrespect in saying this) say to have a personal relationship with Adam and his family. If so, great! I am sure they are wonderful people. But I believe since information came out in this manner it is being questioned. Plus, there seems to be an overwhelming amount of Adams fans on this board, so of course we will all be interested.
Ok, done with rambling. Everyone have fun trying to make sense of what I wrote!
