Sorry, but this is so typical of every anticipated movie I've seen.

I suspect that original cast members are either auditioning just so Columbus can say "I considered X, Y and Z for this role but ultimately chose Q" or so that Columbus can assign one or two of them to cameo roles. Serious consideration for them as leads would probably just be a sign that Columbus has been reading message boards and giving in to the outrageous demands of Rentheads -- which I think he'll be above in the end.

b-way, I never intended that as a hostile question. Wouldn't you ask if you were us? People make stuff up. Maybe you did, maybe you didn't. I was just seeing. No need to call us all 'a--holes'.

And again, if it's true he's in talks with Columbus, doesn't necessarily mean he'll get cast. We'll just have to wait and see.

But, I do find it a little bit suspect that information like this - information that is alledgedly shared on what seems to be a pretty personal basis - is being paraded around online, especially when it's in the very early stages, if at all. Sometimes, certain things might not exactly be for public consumption. Discretion needs to be used....
Do I have reservations? Yes. But how much can you trust what you hear online?
bway-buff... I don't really think that people were mad that you shared... but you do need to understand that sometimes it's hard to give merit to stuff you see online.
That said, I have plenty of thoughts about the idea itself, but I'll be keeping those to myself for now.

I believe you need to get a thicker skin if you want to continue not getting upset on an anonymous board (where people tend to go slightly over the top)

Unfortunately, that's what you get on an anonymous forum. Sad but true, isn't it?
This isn't anything personal, it's just a fact of the matter... it's hard to trust anyone who just pops up with information that we can't confirm. If we ran around trusting everything that everyone said, where would we be? Let's see.... we'd think John Stamos was starring in Fiddler and that Wicked was already closed.

and as for everyone saying that evryone is too old to star in the movie dont u think its possible that the charachters could be in their early 30's. does it matter. ITS A MUSICAL isnt the most important part of A MUSICAL the MUSIC and the quality of SINGING. i saw rent 9 time with the OBC and i have to say i cant see anyone else in their respective roles.

Certainly not attacked, and reading the posts above, I don't think most were attacking. But as to the validity of your post being questioned, expecting NOT to have it questioned is unrealistic. How are people supposed to just take your posts as the definite word? For god's sakes, there are people here claiming to be 10 year olds asking for free oversized bras! (*edit: and now she's pregnant to boot!)

Anyway, bway-buff, just because she didn't ask you not to say anything means you can? If this is how it sounds - a very prelimary step in whatever casting process might be going on - it may not be information that should be put out on the internet for everyone to see. Honestly, that's kind of disrespectful, whether you were explicitly asked or not.

I find you posts always just a tiny bit disturbing anyway, b-way buff, saying things like 'their amazing sons' etc. If you are so in with them, please be more professional about it.
EDIT TO ADD: Your last post underlined my point. Asking them if they had a problem with your post??????????
I'm out of this thread.

Maybe they'll think it's "cute." Interesting that you will check after the fact...
Look, I have no way of knowing how Adam would feel about all of this. But personally, I feel like there are certain things that should be shared with discretion. And you know what? That's just me. C'est la vie, let's get on with it.

I started thinking while reading the thread. (shocking I know...:) )Anyway, we have heard that several other actors, OBC of RENT included, that have auditioned for the movie and went unquestioned. Why? I think it is because how we found out, Euan mentioned that he and Raul auditioned at Seth's Chatterbox, Anthony Rapp has told several people at the stage door of LSoH, and there was an interview online with Jai on the subject. I think, because you, b-waybuff (and i mean no disrespect in saying this) say to have a personal relationship with Adam and his family. If so, great! I am sure they are wonderful people. But I believe since information came out in this manner it is being questioned. Plus, there seems to be an overwhelming amount of Adams fans on this board, so of course we will all be interested.
Ok, done with rambling. Everyone have fun trying to make sense of what I wrote!
