Mikeonbroadway, "don't knock it until you see it" is an apt response to my post. You're absolutely right - I should hold official judgment until I've seen the film.

The problem with the T-cell image is that it immediately follows a scene that concludes with Collins embracing the dying Angel in the hospital, and then the scene immediately following the T-cell image is Angel's funeral. In short, the issue here is that Angel's death can be communicated efficiently (perhaps even better) without the T-cell.

On second read, the "c'mon, let's go get drunk" line works but the actors have to be careful to play it as humorous without making it seem like they've forgotten that they just came from a funeral.

Okay, I've read the other six sides. Mark my words: Columbus has NOT ruined this material with his screenplay. Benny and Maureen are especially well-written -- and not just by Chbosky, but by Columbus as well. I have to shower and pick up some breakfast so I'll comment more later, but just an FYI, "Over the Moon," "La Vie Boheme," "Rent," "I'll Cover You," "I'll Cover You: Reprise," and "Tango: Maureen" were all written into the screenplay in a context desirable for fans of the stage show and fans of movie musicals. At the tops and bottoms of some pages, there was also indication that "Out Tonight," "Take Me or Leave Me," "Without You" and "I Should Tell You" were definite keepers. I can't imagine that "Another Day" and many others wouldn't be there too. Won't say much else because I want you all to be as surprised and excited as I am... ignore the negative tone of previous posts. I forgot that screenplays aren't meant to be judged in small portions; if the dialogue is spoken as internal rhyme, I could actually see how it could work. The "Rent" number is just so wonderfully cool and campy that rhyming dialogue could work. (and if you've read the Chbosky screenplay, you still don't know what you're in for...)

Thanks EN! Keep the info coming good or bad. For some reason, it puts my mind at ease, regarding this topic, to learny any new information whether I like it or not. And thanks for not giving out TOO much information. I do want to be surprised. (Lets just hope its pleasantly!)

I want to write music. I want to sit down right now at my piano and write a song that people will listen to and remember and do the same thing every morning...for the rest of my life. - Jonathan Larson. Tick, Tick...BOOM!

THE OBC ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO SHOULD BE IN THE MOVIE!!!!
I saw the OBC at least 30-40 times and they were the best ive seen with the exception of idina and freddie. They all still look as young as they did (i live in nyc and have seen Anthony, Adam, Taye, and Daphne) except for Daphne and who cares about that since Mimi's part has already been cast. And btw this is not a rumour its in all the papers including Variety that they are willing to even work around, Anthony's, Adam's, Taye's, Jesse's and Idina's schedule to lock them in, which might mean the movie may not make the original late 2005 release date. I thank GOD every day that Warner dropped the project cos they wanted Justin freaking Timberlake as Mark and now Revolution is doing a very smart thing but trying to acquire these actors cos not only can they sing Rent brilliantly but the five are great actors also.
