I remember seeing a rumor about this from the tiktok guy (not even gonna say his name, I don't even want to remember his existenced) about there being a revival of it with Cate Blanchett and Aaron Tveit. Anyone know anything legitimate about this rumored revival? I sure hope Rudin isn't attached to it... And I don't think he would be. Hopefully he will never work again but in the history of Broadway that hasn't always been the case. But he is pretty much for REAL cancelled, so I hope it stays that way. Anyone know anything more about this?"

Is Tveit so desperate for work? He still looks like a kid. The only role that would make sense is the son, which is young Henrik…why would he ever want to do that?
"

Tveit is 40. He’s youthful but… very clearly an adult.

Major artists (and their agents) are the only real hurdles for Rudin returning. I assume Shubert/Wankel would give him a house for the right play. He can probably raise $5 mil without much trouble. And there's probably some sucker out there who would put up with his antics as the General Manager (same with ad agencies). Some people might choose not to work with him, which is fine. But even Jerry Zaks said in MUSIC MAN press that he misses him and his wisdom.

The unknown is what kind of hooplah would happen surrounding the show. Protestors, etc. Hollywood underestimated the power of the people & power of social during the strikes. (Drew Barrymore canceling her return to TV, etc.) Someone signing on to a project he's producing and then backing down because of public pressure doesn't help his return narrative. Protests outside the theatre every night might not necessarily hurt a show, but they would be distracting, and distraction is the thing to be avoided...a producer should not be the focus of the press attention.

If he demonstrates change (i.e. detailing his recovery process, therapy, diagnoses, actual apologies, etc) that also goes a long way.

What bout his Follies though.....Any potential casting rumors: Kristin/ Idina, Kelli/ Laura (figured that'll be the Bart Sher revival), Toni Collette & Toni Collette?

And an aggressive producer like Rudin would absolutely have secured rights and started reaching out to talent for any number of potential projects, even if they would never have come to fruition. We don't know, definitively, what he had in the works- I'd heard, for instance, he had Tony Kushner working on a new adaptation of Threepenny Opera.

Night Music with Andrews, Blanchett, et al seems like a pipedream at this point, particularly when I don't believe I've ever seen a director linked along with these rumors.
"

Anyone who thinks Rudin is out is crazy. Even when he was allegedly forced out of Music Man and hired a West End producer, all the moves including banning critics until opening night is traditional Rudin. He has such a huge ego that there's a zero percent chance he's not involved.

Scott Rudin's husband is John Barlow.
John Barlow's former employee is Rick Miramontez.
Rick Miramontez was the press agent on MUSIC MAN.

Everyone's connected, but the O&M strategy and the Rudin strategy are blurred, and something as innocent as inviting the critics to the press opening instead of previews shouldn't be viewed as a sign of his string-pulling. Though I have no doubt Barry Diller called him about big-picture things. But if he was actively involved, we would have found out. There's too many people on a show not to, even with NDAs.

She settled a malpractice suit that likely cited loss of income from singing. I don’t know the terms of the settlement, but if she were to reverse course and profit from “singing” in a stage show like Night Music, it would open the door for legal troubles."

As I said the last time this was brought up, Julie Andrews has sung in public too many times since her surgery for this to be anything more than urban legend. She's done entire concerts.

Often I think about his rumoured plan for an Audra production of Gypsy, and her steadfastly refusing to speak when he was being taken down. She even tweeted that she wanted people to stop asking her. Not saying that's why she didn't speak out, but as someone said, many people in the industry miss him. He was good at what he did. It makes me think about John Galliano. His scandal seemed like he couldn't come back from it, but when people in your industry never wanted you to leave in the first place...

Always assumed that cast of Shuffle along were under NDA and that’s why noting came out regarding what happened there. Hence, one of reason she couldn’t talk

Julie Andrew’s has basically said she is retired n happy just writing the books she does.

Wasn’t also rumor that Rudkin had Michelle Pfeiffer taking singing classes to see if she could handle score

The Follies casting has never been confirmed to me.  (as it was still multiple years down the line considering after music man was night music and then mame. )I was told though that the goal of the follies revival was supposed to be a “revival featuring the biggest Broadway stars of the decades… think the greatest divas from the 80s-2020s. A celebration of Broadway”. In my mind I would have assumed that it would have been like a collection of people of the likes of lea salonga, lupone, idina, chenoweth, Judy Kaye, Boggess… I mean one could only assume

and yes the gypsy revival (in the master plan aiming for around the 2025 season) was supposed to be for Audra.

2020 music man (Hugh Jackman, Sutton Foster), fall 2022 Little Night Music(Julie Andrews, Cate Blanchett), 2023 season Mame (Cher), 2025 season Gypsy (Audra McDonald)/Follies, 2026-7 (Gypsy/Follies)

I know. If I had just seen that one tweet I wouldn't have believed it, but the rumor had been circulating for a while. And had a producer linked to it. And oftentimes..rumors turn out to be true in the Bway community. Not saying this revival would ever happen. Because now, context has been provided in my case. But it definitely seems to have been a concept. A concept that Twitter right now are acting like it's actually happening, unfortunately.

Yeah, the map of those plans seems pip dream...

For one, slim chance Cher was gonna do Bway now. Hell, I was surprised to hear she almost did SUNSET in the 90s. But her career was pretty slow then. She doesn't need it now, that's for sure.

That said, I wish she would. Give her a Bette-like moment in her Act 3. She's hasn't gotten to act in years and she can really still sing.
