I didn't so much have a problem with the mashup montage as I did with the fact that they didn't present the awards at the point, rather than earlier and off-camera.

I agree with you. It seems the best way to avoid the outrage this presentation has caused. And yet, while I agree it is best to honor each lifetime achiever individually, I also believe there has been an overreaction to the decision to go this way. Maybe their decision had a good reason behind it. One theory: ALW was selected as the honoree when an insider on the board the dish that Chita may not make it until next year alive, hence the shared award. I know...just saying. I'd love to hear from the show presenters about why they chose to go this way.
