Was the last play to take a planned hiatus was by the same playwright ironically and that being ‘God of Carnage’ with the late James Gandolfini, Marcia Gay Harden, Hope Davis & Jeff Daniels in 2009?
Megarich celebrities earn their money through several means, islanderfan. Endorsements, superhero franchises... whatever. George Clooney sells coffee.Shawn Mendes sellls underwear. Julia Roberts sells perfume. Timothee Chalamet is the new face of Chanel Bleu. etc. Do they need that extra money?

Good question. Lady Day took a week off the first week of September 2014 for Audra's vacation. Shuffle Along also had a planned week off during its preview period to work on the show. I feel like there was one more recently that's escaping my memory (not counting ones where there was a planned gap because of a theater move, like Appropriate a few seasons back)...
On a related note, are there more examples of shows that took their scheduled break directly after opening night? Again, I'm sure they must have some reason why this show held its opening night directly before the week-long break instead of directly after. It just seems odd. ("We're open! But...not so much.")
Is this "conversation" relevant to the themes of the play?
What is art?
Is celebrity required?

Okay
I have no doubt if Art got across the board rave, but was cast with well known Broadway actors, it would be on TKTs when it reopens.
So with the Broadway Terrain getting more difficult to navigate financially, I wonder if there is any wisdom with star driven shows that are selling out and that is to run until after the holidays, then close for 6 weeks to give the cast a nice chance for a vacation and recharge their batteries and then reopen mid February for 2-3 months?

Not your fault. No matter what the thread it seems lately they go downhill very fast.
Am I the as*hole here?
I’m genuinely a little upset by the harsh words of bywaygurl. To my surprise.

Without even knowing anything about the show schedule your first response was "I think you are mistaken."
Would have been very easy to pull up the performance schedule before telling someone that they are mistaken.
Which is what I did. Out of curiosity. I saw that the next performance was a Wednesday, assumed it was tonight, and posted. I glanced so quickly that I failed to realize it was Wednesday 23rd, for which I later apologized. Anyway, I'm over it, I can move on with my life. The end.
I just don't understand why anyone thinks this is even something worth squeaking about. The production made a decision that they can live with - you don't have to like/support it, but in the big picture - it means nothing.
True, but everything pales by comparison to the big picture. In the end, did it really matter who got the Tony, Nicole or Audra? How much oxygen did THAT suck up? Sometimes we need a distraction from "the big picture". The big picture sucks.

Yes, because no one on a Broadway message board ever discusses anything they find somewhat interesting, if ultimately inconsequential. God knows a Broadway message board should only discuss things that mean something in the big picture.
Everyone please be sure to justify the importance of your comments so dramamama611 understands.
