Absences This Week

So far this week, the busiest week of the year for Broadway, New York City, Theatre Goers & Holidays, who have been out of what shows?

Just wondering!? Thanks!

We want to know about JLY and Laura Benanti.
"I'm learning to dig deep down inside and find the truth within myself and put that out. I think what we identify with in popular music more than anything else is when someone just shares a truth that we can relate to. That's what I'm searching for in my music." - Ron Bohmer

"I broke the boundaries. It wasn't cool to be in plays- especially if you were in sports & I was in both." - Ashton Kutcher

re: Absences This Week

speaking of angel, i saw the matinee of company last Saturday, and she started coughing before "You could drive a person crazy", and could barely play her instrument and sing. Then for "another hundred people" she barely got through the first few verses, when all of a sudden, she walked off, and an understudy came on to finish the show!

A friend of mine saw Les Mis today and said Aaron Lazar was out.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Angel Desai was also out Tues night when I saw the show and her understudy was great.

re: Absences This Week

Angel isn't "always" out. As anyone who saw last Saturday's matinee can attest, she's been really sick for the past week or so and has missed a few performances in that time.

I saw Katrina. Loved her voice. Loved some of her choices. Did not love others. The thing that bothered me most was that she didn't have an instrument, though. It f*cked the whole conceit and I found it really distracting.

re: Absences This Week

Lauren Pritchard was out of Spring Awakening friday the 29th at 2. But it was only because she had to watch from the audience since she's the dance captain. Krysta Rodriguez went on as Ilse.

Hasn't it been reported that Aaron Lazar was injured?

That's interesting. Has she just became the dance captain?

re: Absences This Week

Just curious, but unless you saw ACL for those three performances, how do you know who was out?? Is the u/s board that visable from the street??
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I believe JLY was out sick last night, or the night before that.

re: Absences This Week

yeah i missed him about a week ago and he said the following night at the stagedoor that he was having neck and I think shoulder issues. I also saw Katrina go on for Angel in Company and though i haven't seen Angel, i thought Katrina was amazing and sang the sh*t out of Another Hundred People and she still played an instrument the majority of the time that I saw it so I didn't feel at all that it screwed with the concept of the show. I'm sure Angel is amazing but no worries if you end up seeing Katrina.
