Definitely Carolee Carmello for "Parade." As much as I love Bernadette Peters, she was just an okay Annie Oakley, and Carolee deserved that Tony sooooo much more, in my opinion.
Also, Barbra Streisand for "Funny Girl." I LOATHE Carol Channing. I think Barbra should have one that one.

I have a slight infatuation with Stephanie Block. I was fortunate enough to see her run in "The Boy From Oz", man she is fierce. The competition that year was fierce as well.
I think she lost to Idina Menzel?
I also think I remember this post on the boards earlier, so if Ms. Block was aformentioned, I apologize.

Whoever said Blythe Danner from Follies was DEAD ON!
and I also agree with Bernadette in Gypsy...saw the production when I was younger, because one of my workshop teachers was in the ensemble.
Yeah.

Well, Raul Esparza. But I wouldn't say for Taboo.
It *should* be for The Normal Heart, but that obviously didn't work out. He also should have been given a special one for Cabaret.

How about Mary Stuart Masterson for NINE?

how did take 14 replies before Tonya Pinkins was mentioned? That was most egregrious bit of highway robbery ever. That woman deserved 2 or 3 tony's for that performance in Caroline or Change.
when ducks grow thumbs then maybe my opinion will change.

jetteson, Stephanie J. Block was not nominated for her performence in The Boy From Oz, but if she was, its more likely that she would have been nominated for Featured Actress than Leading Actress (the category that Idina won) since Liza Minelli is not a leading role in The Boy From Oz.
Another vote for Brian Strokes Mitchell in Ragtime

Raúl Esparza, for Taboo. And honestly, if there hadn't been such a royal f*ckup with The Normal Heart, and the plans to move to Broadway went through, he'd have one by now. He'll win for Company, and if he doesn't, well, I pre-emptively curse the voters.
