Posted: 4/5/13 at 1:05amI would not completely write off Deborah Cox for actress, and I definitely would not exclude Teal Wicks from featured actress. I do agree with your five for best lead actress though. Once again, we have a very strong category!

Matilda seems like the kind of show that if the Tony nominators love they will give extra nominations to it like Elizabeth A. Davis for Once last year.
I wasn't sure on some of the category placements. You think Amy Morton is for sure getting nominated ? hmm that's a tough category to call.
The last time Jekyll and Hyde was on Broadway none of the actresses were nominated so we'll see.....

I don't think Scarjo stands a chance at a nomination.
Also I think Charlotte D'Amboise will be considered for featured.

Posted: 4/5/13 at 8:34amTwo other pretty good bets for Featured Actress-Musical are Keala Settle (if HARDBODY is still running) and Annaleigh Ashford (delightful in KINKY BOOTS).

Unless the critics don't like it, Fiona Shaw is a lock, as Amy Morton should be for a completely different take on Martha. I would take Scarlett and Cicely off the list (unless Cicely totally dazzles said critics).
Williams and Burstyn should be on the list; Ivey, Monk and Marvel definitely off.

well in the original Pippin, Leland Palmer was nominated in Lead for the Fastrada role ..
and of course Irene Ryan was nominated for Andrea Martin's role...
Elizabeth Marvel is so overdue for a Tony nomination -cries-

I think for actress in a musical these are the locks: Laura Osnes, Patina Miller, the Matildas
Strong chance: Lilla Crawford, Stephanie J. Block
Waiting in the Wings: Carolee Carmello
Featured Actress/Musical: Annaleigh Ashford (I think she has a chance at winning), Lesli Margherita, Lauren Ward, Jessie Mueller and Andrea Martin.
Strong Candidates: Keala Settle
Actress/Play: Cicely Tyson, Laurie Metcalf, Amy Morton, Fiona Shaw and Holland Taylor. (I'd have loved Jessica Chastain to get a nod-I thought she was very good.)
Strong Candidates: Judith Light (depending on placement-she could be in featured), Sigourney Weaver
Featured Actress/Play (assuming Light is in leading, if not, she could end up here): Not much of a clue here-I'd say Kristine Nielsen for sure (I think she's got the award wrapped up), and Judith Light will get a nod if placed here.

I remember the time that Aaron Tveit and Daniel Radcliffe were both locks.
Two times each.

Posted: 4/7/13 at 11:19pmIt would be great if the Matildas and Lila Crawford were both not nominated. Let the adults who have worked hard all their lives get the awards. Those kids have their whole lives ahead of them. They really need to peak in their profession at 12 or under???What possibly good could a Tony Award do them at their young ages??? Call me an aegist. I don't care.

I would be fine with Lilla Crawford but I have an issue with the whole concept of nominating more then one person like they did with Billy Elliot or The Sound of Music. it's just kind of messy.
I know right some of the names being thrown around on this board are wayy wishful thinking. let's remember these things are political just like the Oscars and other awards. locks are very few and it's not just about the best performance.

The age of the actors should have no impact on their ability or disability to get a nomination. If they give a worthy performance, they should be nominated. Period.
Lilla was fantastic when I saw her in the otherwise lackluster ANNIE. Bailey was such a joy in MATILDA, and I've heard nothing but positive things about all of the other girls. I don't understand the age argument when it comes to awards, especially the Tonys where there aren't many contenders to begin with, let alone contenders who are worthy of being nominated. It's not like the Oscars where hundreds and hundreds of women are eligible for the award. And who says they have to "peak" at a young age? They are capable of having a long, healthy future in show business just as anyone else is.

I agree with Golden Boy. i would rather see a nomination go to someone like Christiane Noll or Carolee Carmello who were standouts in the poorer shows of the season. Also nominating the Matilda girls is nominating the role, not the performance considering you only have to see one to vote for all of them.
Lilia Crawford is very good in Annie but i don't think her performance matches the caliber of the rest of the female performances this season. Thus i think age should be taken into account.
