I went to Adams fist tonight
Real quick jumbled thoughts bc I've been up for over 20 hours and am running on empty
He sounded AMAZING, I felt like this was the way the show was meant to be sung.
Prior to seeing Adam in the role, I was concerned that I would be distracted and feel like I was Roger instead of Huey. This didn't happen with Adam which I thought was good.
(For example when ever I see Rent now I always feel like I'm watching Henry whenever I see ACB play Mark)
I will be going back to see him a few more times. Huey was actually an enjoyable character tonight.
Side Note: The cast sang Happy Birthday to him at Curtain Call and brought him out a cupcake which was nice.
Also he DID stagedoor, I was surprised the crowd was only about 12 people (I guess everyone was over at Hugh Jackman tonight)
Another side note
I rushed, got in line at 6AM, was the first and only one till about 8:30 when 2 more people showed up. At the show tonight I sat next to someone who got there at 11:30 and got the last 2 rush tickets.
Show looked to be sold out tonight I saw people in standing room.
Overall GO ADAM!!!
Amazing first night I'm sure he will only improve as his run goes on.
I asked him if he would ever go back to Rent he responded by saying "No I'm too old"
I wonder if his fan club is called the Adams family!
(I told u this would be disjoined)

Posted: 10/26/11 at 12:33amI was there. Adam was wonderful! Those songs were made for him to sing. His speaking accent was much more toned down than Chad's. Chad pretty much annoyed me every time he spoke.

Kind of a sidenote, but are the rush seats still in the front row?
On topic: go Adam.

Shouldn't the Memphis website be updated by now? Slowpokes.

Posted: 10/29/11 at 7:59pmI always thought the songs were supposed to be sung the way Chad sang them...you know...the songs that were kind of written for him. I love how Chad's accent is so strong when he sings too....it sounds much more authentic to me. I'm an Adam fan, but I just don't see him as Huey Calhoun....hopefully there will be more footage of him soon because right now, I'm not feeling it.

Posted: 10/30/11 at 4:46pmI saw it yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised that Adam did not sound rock and roll when he sang the songs but pulled off the Southern Twang nicely. I did not like his speaking voice though especially after Chad owned such an awesome accent. Adam seemed to just have the stereotypical southern accent. It was interesting to see him in such a different role though and I think he will grow more as his run goes on!

Posted: 11/1/11 at 1:30pmDid it today actually. Got there way earlier than I had to. You could have gotten there after 10 and gotten a ticket.

I've never had really strong feelings about Adam Pascal either way since I had never seen him in anything but after seeing that sneak preview video and then the "Memphis lives in me" video I was really dying to see him.
I really liked him. Far more tolerable than his predecessor. They're going to be back in a few weeks to re-review the show and I'm anxious to see what they have to say about him.

Posted: 11/3/11 at 11:21amArrived at 9:40am today and was still the first one in line. So thanks, everyone, for the tips to not have gotten there any earlier as I originally planned. Got a front row center seat! There were probably 6 people behind me when doors opened... but from the way a couple of them were talking, I don't think they were even trying for rush.. they just wanted regular tickets.

Agreed! I really thought more people would be going out to see him. Though it was definitely a full house tonight. And there was a big round of really exuberant applause when he first came on stage tonight.
I thought he was absolutely amazing. It was my first time seeing the show, so I have nothing to compare his performance to - but I thought he was the perfect Huey. And he really pulled off the youthfulness well. Much better than he even seemed to when he came back to RENT a few years ago. (though I loved that, too)
Surprisingly small crowd at the stagedoor tonight. Which was nice - because they all spent a good amount of time talking to us, taking photos, etc. And a few of the cast members recognized my friends and I as the ones who were beaming the whole time on the front row.
Will quite possibly go back to get another rush ticket... great show, great seats, AMAZING performance!

Posted: 11/7/11 at 1:05pmI like Adam a lot in this show. I didn't see Roger in the performance at all. I saw it on the 26th, which was his second night I think. The rush tickets were so damn easy to get. It was a matinee day after all. Probably got there around 3:30 for 8 o'clock.

I'll be curious to read the new reviews. I was wondering whether or not that'd happen.
Two weeks til I can see this thing. Can't wait.

Vagabond Anarchist, that's so odd...we were there at the show last night and not one member came out at stage door. It was their only show of the night, too. We were by the stage door at Shubert Alley...do they come out another exit?
Regardless, it was an incredible show and Adam really does pull off a wonderful Huey. Very different portrayal from Chad's Huey but not a bad thing at all...he plays the character as very adorable, fun-loving, genuinely likeable. We had a great time.
