The leads aren't leaving the show until February 21st. Which means I highly doubt the guy who is joining the show tomorrow is joining as Aladdin or there definitely would have been news about it. "
The timing is about right. Besides Disney never announces any of the replacements for leads until the final week.

On the Aladdin wiki, Ashley Park is now listed as the next Jasmine. No idea how true that is.

I wonder if James will be George Washington in Hamilton Chicago production? He'd be perfect.

James is a tony award winner. I'd imagine he'd want to jump onto another show on Broadway.

Unless they convince him to lead the national tour, which given how much he's enjoying playing this role, wouldn't surprise me in the least (and Disney got Ashley Brown and Gavin Lee to lead the Mary Poppins national tour).

Would be more appropriate if she took over as Jason.

Has anyone seen this show? I've never been interested except for the genie. Is it worth it to go see him before he leaves? I'm on the fence bc Idk how big his part is and if it warrants a ticket or if the tony/YouTube videos are enough.

Awesome show. Dreadful seats both times I have seen it the seats in orchestra seats sunk.

The articles that came out a year ago about the principal cast contracts being extended into 2016 said that they all extended through February 21, 2016—this Sunday. Apologies if I've missed this somewhere, but is this the last week for many of the principal cast members, or did some/all extend even further?

Pretty sure they all extended. I think we would've gotten a casting announcement if that wasn't the case

Disney doesn't always make announcements that far in advance. Not sure what they will do in this case but I remember there was only an article the night before Lion King got new cast members to play Simba and Mufassa. (https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/THE-LION-KING-Gets-a-New-Mufasa-Simba-Starting-Tomorrow-20150709)
Also these probably mean nothing just putting them out there: Don Darryl Rivera (Iago) recently posted on twitter-
"Tuesday nights at @aladdin are always a friendly reminder of how much I love my job. #Broadway #Iago #EvilLaughTime
"
And Adam Jacobs (Aladdin) posted last week:
"Today's put-in theme: BLUE Welcome Major and Brad! aladdin #AladdinOnBroadway @ New Amsterdam… https://www.instagram.com/p/BBqJKYEER2-/ "

Hellob I definitely think it's worth seeing with James as the Genie. Aladdin was my favorite movie growing up and I was also on the fence about seeing this on Broadway, especially after seeing the Vaudevillian/Bollywood mashup feel of the show in Youtube clips and on the Tony's. I happened to check the box-office one day for cancellations and got a decent ticket in the balcony and I absolutely loved it. James is the life of the show and he is truly delightful, his energy is constantly bouncing off the walls. I was also worried that sitting up in the balcony might not be the best seating choice but it was perfect. The show is such a spectacle that sitting further back gives you a better vantage point and you really get to take everything in. I will say, my main draw for seeing this was to catch Jonathan Freeman reprising his role as Jafar, as Jafar has always been my favorite Disney character and he was a riot as well. The show is a definite crowd-pleaser, go see it!

A caucasian Jasmine? No maam. The media would destroy her AND Disney on Broadway."
If we have an Asian-American Anna in King and I, why not a Caucasian Jasmine in Aladdin?

Well Anna was half-Asian in real life, so a biracial Anna is completely appropriate.

BUMP- Anyone have any updates? Tomorrow (February 21st) would be the last day for any of the cast members if they didn't extend.

^I know his name is Brad (from the Instagram post), but not sure about his last name.
Also, Major Attaway is the new Genie/Babkak standby:

Are you sure Brad is taking over the role and not just joining the cast?

"Are you sure Brad is taking over the role and not just joining the cast?"
No I'm not sure. On the post it said "Welcome Major and Brad" and since I know Trevor Dion Nicholas is going to London (and Major took over as the Genie standby) and since Jonathan Schwartz is leaving and there was someone I didn't recognize in the Omar costume I figured that was Brad. My apologies!
