My least fave of all the Aladdin demo songs. Oh well--I am pleased they're going back to the original concept for the piece, instead of just trying to throw the movie on stage.

It's a Catchy song but I just don't see it measuring up i with the other Menken/Ashman/Rice material.

I actually LOVE Call Me A Princess!!!
Here's another song!
Why Me?

Is this song actually supposed to make Jasmine extremely unlikable and snobbish?
If you watch the interview after the song, Courtney Reid explains that, in context, Jasmine has chosen to "scare off" the suitors she doesn't want to marry by pretending to be a high maintenance diva. Hence the song.
I kept watching and then heard my question answered. WOMP WOMP.

Why me? seems fun as well. Excited to see more!
Oh god, that commercial is painful.

That commercial is beyond painful.
i do love Why me--I think it's actually one of the Rice songs that was cut, as I know a fully recorded version was done, unlike many of the Aladdin songs.
The commercial makes it look like a cheap youth theatre production.
I thought it would turn out like The Lion King but it looks like The Little Mermaid.

Can it really be said to be "a whole new world" when it looks to be a fairly familiar world?

You have even less lyrical skills than Rice--how does "a fairly familiar world" fit the music??
:)
The trailer seems like the kind of thing some high schoolers would throw together for their video editing class project.

ChenoKahn, you really can't judge the production based on a commercial that was most likely filmed in front of a green screen. We've only heard two songs and seen a couple of costumes. Wait till something more substantial leaks.
Aladdin is not my favorite, but I'm excited for this for some reason, even though there's no way I'm going to Seattle any time soon. Haha.

I think the commercial is fine. I'm glad "Call Me a Princess" is in. I wasn't sure how it could possibly be incorporated, but her description in the interview seems like a fine set up for it.
Oh dear, what are they doing to my favourite cartoon of all-time?
And why doesn't Aladdin have long hair?
The Marquee outside the theatre looks like a cheap UK Panto Poster
I think it is really interesting how they are making this scrapped "trunk" material work with the final film elements. That "Call Me a Princess" song seems to work fine with the part of the movie where she ticks off a suitor. The song was not originally intended to do that, Jasmine was going to be a snooty princess.
Its good they are willing to move away from the films structure when need be. And cost-wise, this show is being done for a fraction of a fully mounted broadway production.
While looking at related Youtube content I found this gem. Amazing.
