Posted: 7/1/13 at 12:58pmI believe Jessie Mueller was called in to audition for this, though I don't believe she got it. I say this only to point out that I think they are seeing actresses of all ethnicities for this role.

"At this point, I'm just praying for not all-white principals. Come on, Disney." Race isn't a issue with Disney Theatrics (Norm Lewis in TLM, Adam Jacobs in TLK, Toni Braxton in Beauty and the Beast, etc.) As far as we know, Jasmine could be played by a black woman.

If the rumors I have heard are true the leads would not be all white. The source is reliable enough that I don't want to say any more tho.
