"As far as we know, Jasmine could be played by a black woman"
"If what I am hearing from the grapevine is true then the cast will be all black."
Wow.
If that rumor is true, that would be VERY interesting.

Well I'd rather see someone like Renee Goldsberry or Adrienne Warren as Jasmine than Laura Osnes or Jessie Mueller.
Now that I think about it, black leads do seem to fit more than white.
I wonder if Corbin Bleu is apart of this...
Can't wait to see the cast list. I know Daisy Hobbs, of the Memphis tour, is in the ensemble, so since she was in the 5th Ave incarnation, that would lead me to believe she isn't the only one who is moving with the show.
I just don't get why people get hung up on the race of the performers. If they are singing and acting their hearts out on stage, I'm NOT thinking about their race either before or after the show... and probably not until someone else brings up the issue.

All I hope is that when it comes to Broadway, Robin Williams is the Genie. I know you think I'm joking, but HOW AMAZING would that be?????
Robin Williams as the Genie is never going to happen, he has a show that's coming on CBS already getting a good amount of buzz and practically headed for a full season pick up.
Still after D23 Expo, no announcement...
Anyone hear anything else other than what was rumored?

Not a lead, but someone who will be in the ensemble left a Broadway production this last week to go into rehearsals soon. Don't know if they are taking a break before they start tho.
Only posting this much because one of their recent castmates spilled the beans on facebook.
@Movidud Can we at least get a name for either Aladdin or Jasmine?
Anyone else know anything?

According to Twitter, the rumor is Lucy Liu will be Jasmine
There is no way...

I saw that you said that Tuck Everlasting was put on hold. Do you know how long it will be on hold for? I am super bummed!

I'd love to see Robin de Jesus as Aladdin. He was adorably hysterical as the houseboy in La Cage, and I think he would bring that same energy into this role.
He's a two time Tony nominee, and a good shot to finally snag an award.

It won't be Lucy Liu, as she is a lead in the CBS Sherlock Homes show, "Elementary". She plays the character "Watson".

The girl who was the dance captain in Rock of Ages just left to join Aladdin. Multiple people from the 5th Avenue production are confirmed to be in the production including ensemble members. Also leaving for NYC from Seattle to join rehearsals are Brandon O'Neill who played Kassim in the 5th Avenue version, and Don Darryl Rivera who played Iago. James Monroe Iglehart will be the Genie. Its rumored that another Seattle local is the Genie understudy.
Great, I'm looking forward to Iglehart!
Anything on the leads? LOL
I just really want to know if Courtney Reed is continuing on as Jasmine. Can someone who knows please, please PM me???

From what I can tell, neither Adam or Courtney will be continuing with the production.
Adam Jacobs was absolutely terrific, his voice was gorgeous! Are you sure?

I know Robin played the role before, just didn't remember where or when. When I first heard that, it just seemed like a natural fit. I still hope he gets it.
Thanks Justin.
I agree. If he didn't get signed on to be the original Aladdin, I hope he gets the chance to play the character later on in the run.

I wonder if the Genie will be blue like in the movie? I would assume so considering this production is obviously bigger budget than the Seattle production.
I'm still curious to know whether we'll see Andrew Keenan Bolger in the show? Any other casting rumours?

YoungerBrother, I would imagine that Andrew would be involved with Aladdin. I've heard that it is just a larger and better recreation of the Seattle production and since Tuck is stalled, I would imagine so.
