For a very limited engagement, but still shocking! Any idea what Eric is doing? http://www.broadway.com/buzz/188240/exclusive-alex-brightman-will-return-to-hit-musical-school-of-rock-on-broadway/
Amazing! I hope I can sneak a trip in. I saw the show for the first time last month and Eric was out, but Jonathan Wagner was amazing.

Why??! lol I wasn't impressed when I saw him
I'm not sure why the OP finds this "shocking". It's not like Brightman suddenly became an A-list movie star in the six months since he left the show.

How often do you hear of an OBC member rejoining the show after less than 6 months, only to appear in it for half a month? It's not like they couldn't rotate the understudies in those two week.

Neither have any of the other Tony Award winners or nominees from last season.
I'm not surprised by this because I knew it was happening.
I would be shocked if an announcement was made this morning that Lin, Cynthia, Christopher, Danielle, etc were going back to their shows effective tomorrow
"
It would be "shocking" if Cynthia and Danielle went back into their show tomorrow...since it's closed.
Obviously we know you have a personal connection to this show and perhaps you think I was mocking Brightman (I wasn't at all), so you responded flippantly. I just find it odd that we're acting like it was just announced that Hugh Jackman is jumping into a Broadway show and not the guy who was playing the part every night until recently.

All that means is that he has two weeks free and he's doing them a favor. It's not that different from Michael C. Hall jumping back into HEDWIG for a week when John Cameron Mitchell hurt himself.
Alex Brightman is a force of nature. His voice is insane, and he's perfect in the role. No other Dewy has come close to him.

It's still pretty rare.

^James Monroe Iglehart did it just last weekend for Aladdin. NYC + NYC suburb living Elphabas and Christine Daes do it from time to time. It's not that uncommon. I'm sure we'll start hearing similar stories for other long running demanding shows (aka Hamilton) as well.

And one of the local Matildas filled in when all 3 of the little maggots got sick at once.
Ken Watanabe filled in for Hoon Lee, but he was scheduled to takeover anyway.

The Color Purple closed?!
That explains why the marquee outside the Jacobs now says "Bandstand."
Thanks for telling me. It was driving me crazy trying to figure out what was happening there. "
Well then, why on earth would you post about "Cynthia" or "Danielle" (and it's great that you're on a first name basis with all of these folk) coming back? Seems like kind of a silly comment, no?
I wish he would be there one week longer! I would love to see it again with Alex, but what I have seen of Eric I have no interest to see it with him.

SCENE : ALEX BRIGHTMAN enters stage of Winter Garden. PTHESPIAN runs toward him.
PTHESPIAN : Mr. Brightman, it's you!
ALEX BRIGHTMAN :Why, Hogeye, hello!
PTHESPIAN : Um sir, my name isn't Hogeye, my name is
ALEX BRIGHTMAN : (overcome with emotion at his long awaited return to the site of his triumph)
....I don't know why I'm frightened.
...I know my way around here..
I suddenly wish my tickets were for a week earlier, bummed to miss out on this.

That makes more sense! I'd misheard the cast album all this time.
carnzee is right, the character's name is Hog-Eye, NOT Hawkeye.
I think it is a little rare. I'm still surprised they didn't take him to London to open the show.
I haven't made it to SOR yet... (have wanted to, just haven't found the time and my Sunset obsession has been getting in the way) but this might push me to move things around. I was sorry to have missed Brightman who I heard was amazing in this.
I wonder if Alex is planning on joining SOR on tour?
