Those look pretty safe. There will be a couple of surprises among those, I'm sure.

Safe=boring, I want more upsets pratically in the musical acting categories. I respect that the fact people want to give Patti her due,but cmon at least have person disagree it makes things more interesting and less predictable

One person disagreeing with what others think should happen isn't going to change the outcome. You're forgetting that these are predictions, not wishes -- what they think will happen as opposed to what they want to happen.

I'm sorry, but weren't most of the critics well, critical of Hudes' book for In The Heights - but almost half of them predict she'll win? I can't imagine they'd give the voters that little credit.

I agree with emcee...

Predictions & Wishes ARE TWO different things! It's like I am predicting IN THE HEIGHTS winning the Tonys (based on common sense) and I am hoping that PASSING STRANGE will win (bec. I like it)

Please dont get these two things wrong. I have seen soo many post predicting the TONYS based on their "liking"..I mean by common sense...everyone seems to agree on one thing..which is the safest bet (unless an upset!)

I can't believe they all think Boyd Gaines is going to win. I'm not saying he's not, I'm just surprised none of them thought there was a possibility he could lose.

I'm surprised about the prediction for set. I'd think this was the only award SUNDAY was going to get, but the pundits seem to think otherwise.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

re: All Tony Predictions- Broadway.com

if "in the heights" wins best book i will throw up in my seat at RCMH (bc i will be at the tonys)
if it wins best musical, i may gag a little bit.
it is the MOST HORRIBLE book of a musical i have EVER seen. hands down, ok, well, maybe Glory DAY has it beat.

if Xanadu doesnt win (dont count it out....remember ave q overtaking the biggest musical in the history of broadway...) then i wanna see passing strange win.

im with Michah.

Beane should win for his book. And if Xanadu doesn't take the big one, I hope Passing Strange does... Anything but In the over-Hyped.

In the Heights? Still don't get what all the fuss is about. It's good, not great. And its book is nowhere near as good/smart as Douglas Carter Beane's.

re: All Tony Predictions- Broadway.com

I sorta don't see the possibility for "In the Heights" to take both book and score...I think that might be supremely stupid and Tony voters probably know this...on the other hand, I think the chances of "Passing Strange" taking both are better...it'll work out to one of three outcomes I think, PS takes both, ITH takes score and PS takes book, or ITH takes score and Xanadu takes book.
