Thinking about getting tix to finally see Altar Boyz.
Can anyone shed any light on why FRONT row tix (left and right-- not center) are going for only $25 bucks while further back prices are higher?
Are the sight lines TERRIBLE? (I'm not a huge fan of far left/right normally) Are they parital] view?
Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated. TIA!
not terrible.
just EXTREMELY close.
the sides come a little closer to the stage, than the center front row.
they get extremely close to you and the speakers (with loud booming music/vocals) are pretty close. It's a pretty intense expierence and I feel bad when I see a random old couple sitting there...
if you can afford it, get a little further back (in the center preferably).
either way it's a small theatre so it doesn't really matter. Please see it! As an Altarholic, I pray that you enjoy it. perhaps I will see you there.
I'd say the sight lines aren't great. I sat on the very far right once and although that doesn't usually bother me, this time it really annoyed me.
Most of the songs are played out towards the centre, so you mostly see the actors in profile. Also, it means the people sitting next to you can block your view.
Thanks for the info. I was pretty excited to see Neil Haskell (sp) was a part of it now...I was a big fan of his from SYTYCD.
Have you seen him in the role yet?
We're looking at August to go and see it.
It is actually not a bad seat. I sat in the front row for Neil's opening night. It was extremely close but it is a small theater. So all of the seats are great, in my opinion. Enjoy!
The $25 seats are also in the second row from the stage, and are on the extreme right and left hand sides. You have to turn your head to see the show. Occasionally, the rest of the row is unsold and you can move towards the center, but I can't guarantee it.
Other than those seats, there's not a bad seat in the house, really!
Umm I sat front row and had quite an enjoyable evening! I actually thought I might get wet from the perspiring hunks as they sang and danced a mere foot away from me! I didn't notice any visibility issues.

I just saw this last night with a $25 seat. Fortunately (for me, unfortunately for the show) it was only about 30% full, so I just stayed in the 8th row, dead center, and no one bothered me... perfect seats! (And I was the furthest person from the stage!)
Anyway, I LOVED the show. So funny and entertaining. Mark definitely stole the show and was fantastic. They were all very good. The only weak cast member, in my opinion, was Luke. He had the Nick Carter look-alike thing down, the mannerisms were fantastic--it's just his line delivery wasn't great. I know a lot of his stuff is supposed to sound forced, but it just wasn't working last night. His singing was also the weakest of the quintet. He is the best dancer, though. Juan and Abraham were solid, Matthew was very good, and Mark's voice, delivery, and mannerisms were hilarious. The most telling to me was that when all five of them were doing the same choreography, you could definitely capture their character just from the way they enacted the moves. (The ghetto bad boy, the effeminate one, the leader, the hispanic, and the awkward "brains behind the operation.")
All in all, it's still in great shape and highly recommended! If they have more nights like last night, though, I can't see it staying open much longer.
its also in Row C too (the $25 seats) and that one is fine. the Row A ones are right up front and youre basically looking at the speaker but if youre on the left side, its fine (the right has a big prop there).
But yah. just went Saturday and it was less than half full so we just moved to the centre more.
But its a small theatre so really doesn't matter.
Saw it front row center twice. No problems with sight lines. Fun show!

Got my daughter front row center tickets for Kids Night and now she wants them every year. She got pelted with sweat and loved it.
If you want to enjoy the choreography you should sit farther back. You loose out on that aspect of the show since you are basically looking at their sneakers sitting that close!
