Oh, wait -- I think I remember my nephew watching this show. Didn't it have dancing lobsters or something like that?
I prefer my lobsters as phone receivers, thank you very much.

I really hate when Hollywood feels the need to cast a "name" in roles liek this. This is the perfect vehicle for a new comer.
Crushing on a Broadway Star?

I looked up stuff on Amanda singing and here are some interviews I found.
How Amanda Bynes stayed normal while earning paychecks with many more zeroes than her friends': "My parents arranged it so I could stay in school and work in the summers. Even when I would do little bits during the school year, I would have a tutor," says Bynes. "I was a kid and I loved my friends, so I couldn't do home-schooling. That wasn't me. So I still got to go to my winter formals and take singing lessons, and I had to make my bed."
-----------
And Bynes laughed when asked if she had any singing aspirations, a la Duff or Ashlee Simpson.
"I sing in the privacy of my own home," she replied.
-----------
P.F: Can you sing?
Amanda: I, can and I've actually started doing musical theatre that's what I started before I did TV so I definitely, you know, enjoy singing ...
P.F: So nobody's ever come up to you with an album idea?
Amanda: Well I mean I, it it's definitely something that I don't want to do but, you know, everybody always wants to make money off of anybody talented and, you just have to stay true to yourself.
She seems very down to earth.

Posted: 6/5/06 at 5:10pmShe's cute and I like, and it's nice to hear it sounds like she has singing experience, but I do wish they had gotten Annaliese van der Pol. Hopefully, Bynes will not dissappoint.

I'm happy for her. I was watching What I Like About You- her sitcom from The WB with Jenny Garth and she was hysterical. I'm very happy for her. She's not a slezze like most of the teenage actresses out there today and I feel she can pull of Penny like she did so many characters on her own sketch comedy show.
Bravo Amanda.

Posted: 6/6/06 at 3:11amAmanda is a great artist i think, she really gets comedy and she doesn't seem to be paranoid about looking good all the time. She even dared to look like a boy in "She's The Man", I posted a review of Bynes in this movie awhile ago https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.cfm?thread=890587

Sometimes the sweet innocence of posters on thei board breaks me up. Do you really think, for ANY reason at all that Hollywood producers are going to bypass Amanda Bynes, whose films have grossed $396,713,193 for some unknown actress who has starred in a couple of shows in Buena Park? Anneliese van der Pol never stood a chance against Ms. Bynes. Especially if the person playing Tracy is an unknown.
This is not a flame, just a small singe.

Janet Jackson.
She's had to gain 60 lbs. for the role.
#43re: Bynes Cast As Penny in 'Hairspray' Film
Posted: 6/7/06 at 4:44pmLOL!!! Janet is skinny again now.

#45re: Bynes Cast As Penny in 'Hairspray' Film
Posted: 6/7/06 at 5:07pmShe started on the original (!) All That on Nickelodeon when she was 10, (she was very funny) and then went on to the Amanda Show when she was about 13. She's a very good comic actress, and I think a much better actress than Duff. I'm glad she's still working, but I can't really see her in this role...

LOUSY CHOICE FOR SUCH A GREAT ROLE!
Have you seen "What a Girl Wants"? She's AWFUL! She is basically doing a bad, really bad, Jennifer Aniston imitation.
Very disappointed in this casting choice.

Posted: 6/8/06 at 10:06amThis girl has more exerience than so many other folks. I am (way) over 30 and actually used to catch her Amanda Show on Nick. The girl is funny. She was like a Carol Burnette, but only 13 years old. I feel like she could probably do anything she sets her mind to. i like her.
