Let's not forget that Billie Joe is more than stunt casting

You think he was brought in for any other reason other than the money?

Slightly OT, but I never got why St. Jimmy was such a confusing character. The first time I saw the show, I knew he was Johnny's alter-ego before "St. Jimmy" (the song) was even finished...

Most likely. Money is the name of the game here, and the show hasn't exactly been raking it in without Billie Joe.

On the St. Jimmy note: I always thought the Johnny/St. Jimmy thing would make a hell of a lot more sense if Johnny was named James instead.

I know you. I know you. I know you.

From what I know/heard, there are many factors pointing to it not closing on February 27th. And I have to say that the week that Billie was not in the show, the grosses were the highest it's been since August, minus the times that Billie was in. So, the show has some staying power even without Billie in the show.

On a sidebar...I'm still wondering how FINIAN'S RAINBOW, which played to fuller houses and higher grosses than AMERICAN IDIOT, closed after 110 performances while AMERICAN IDIOT, barely breaking 50% and having somewhat low grosses, is continuing to run?

Probably because FINIAN'S RAINBOW had a 40-member ensemble, some Broadway names in the leads and a 26-piece orchestra so the weekly running costs were quite a bit higher than IDIOT with a cast of 20 and an 8-piece band.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
