re: American Idol 7 Stars Who Could Be on Broadway

Sorry snl89, but 75% of the people who actually audition for American Idol CAN sing. It's unfortunate that she made it this far. You put her voice on anyone else and you'd see that she sucks. You seem really nice and sincere for supporting her but Broadway is a completely different league.

I agree about Syesha as Ti Moune.

She would vocally stunning.

Syesha, in my opinion, is highly overrated. She over sings everything, goes off pitch quite frequently, and tries songs that are larger than her voice. She's okay, don't get me wrong, I don't think she's a terrible singer, I just think she should have been voted off already; if it was based on actual talent.

Then again, if it was based on actual talent, Carly Smithson would have won. Now, THAT'S a singer from that piece of sh*t show that has actual vocal chops. Ah, well...

I think David A. could do it. However, he needs ACTING lessons, IMO. I can just get a feeling that he would be REALLY BLAND. I HATE it when people think Broadway is all about the voice, because it is not!

If David A. is anything like he is when he is interviewed by Ryan on stage, then he needs some major acting help!

I definitely see Syesha..maybe Joanne or Mimi in Rent, Aida, a Dyanmite in Hairspray, Velma Kelly in Chicago
David Cook as Roger in Rent
I would love to see Carly as Maureen in Rent

I'm pretty sure that you won't see any of them in RENT. They've got the tour (if they are currently NOT on the show) and will probably try to do a solo album. By the time they turn to Broadway (if the do) RENT will be closed.

The first time I heard and saw Syesha perform, I thought she'd be perfect for a Dynamite. She has the right look and the right voice.

If David Cook can act, I agree, Roger in RENT.

I am not a David A and want him nowhere near Broadway unless he has bought a ticket to a show. But...maybe...Seymour in Little Shop of Horros?

David Cook said on Ellen today he wanted to win a Tony someday... along with every award there can be one. But the Tony was mentioned.
Broadway Shows I've Seen: Hairspray, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors (2003), The Wedding Singer, Spamalot, Riverdance, Rent, Beauty and the Beast, Spring Awakening, Wicked, Legally Blonde, Phantom of the Opera, Sweet Charity (revival), Drowsy Chaperone, The Lion King, Dreamgirls(2010 Tour).

i luv me some Syesha.

I would be surprised is Syesha is not approached about joining the cast of the revival of "For Colored Girls Who Have Consiered Suicide.." with india.arie.

anyway, i'm sure Syesha will be on Broadway, or at least on tour, within a year. I bet she'll play Velma in Chicago.

She would be a wonderful Ti Moune.

If I could choose to cast her in anything though, I would love to see her in Hot Mikado as Yum-Yum. Her "The Sun and I" would be great. She'd be a pretty good Sarah in Ragtime too.

re: American Idol 7 Stars Who Could Be on Broadway

My roommate made a comment a while ago while we were watching American Idol, and it still pisses me off. It was during Broadway week and she said something like, "Most of these people only belong on Broadway" as if she was saying that being on Broadway is a step down from being a pop star. Ugh.

I <3 David Cook. But I don't want him coming to Broadway nor would I expect it. He's gonna be rocking the mainstream pop/rock world soon! But his Music of the Night performance was beautiful. I would love to see him do some Roger/RENT stuff too. *sigh* I want to hear that now!

Syesha would make an AMAZING Mimi in RENT.

Let's get her on the ADAM AND ANTHONY tour!

re: American Idol 7 Stars Who Could Be on Broadway

If any of you actually watched American Idol, you would know that the final 4 contestants - by their own admission on the air - could barely keep their voices for the last couple weeks of the show. How the heck could they manage 8 shows a week????

So many have fallen for Paula's claim that Syesha belongs on Broadway, which I find funny. Her voice control is very week and she can barely hold a note if she is not attempting to belt a final note. VERY shaky, and not nearly ready for the demands of the stage.

That said, I feel NONE of this year's "idols" belong anywhere near a Broadway stage.

re: American Idol 7 Stars Who Could Be on Broadway

David A. is too young-looking (far younger looking than his actual age) to be believable in anything on Broadway at this point. However, I think he'd be great once he matures and gets rid of that awkward shyness!

re: American Idol 7 Stars Who Could Be on Broadway

Syesha would be a GREAT Ti Moune, Joanne or perhaps, in a couple of years, afte some maturity, Velie in THE COLOR PURPLE.

David A would be a great Joseph in a couple of years.

I had no idea Carly had done Young Cosette, myshikobit.

David Cook could be a GREAT Roger in RENT.

re: American Idol 7 Stars Who Could Be on Broadway

Brooke...no way. Her voice isn't nearly good enough for that and so wrong for that style of music.

The only one I can really see is David Cook as Roger. I think he has the voice and vulnerability to do it.

David A...maybe he could be Doody or Joseph once he's older.

Syesha maybe at some point, but she's not ready yet. I just don't think her voice is quite there yet.
