On Concord Records.
It's up for pre-order at amazon.
It appears to be the OLCR... Which makes sense as the first US preview isn't until March 24.

Thanks for the correction newintown.
Noted in thread title.
Does this suggest we might not get a Broadway album? That would make me sad.
(Well, only if I like the show!)
My reaction... WHAT?!
Not disappointed at all to hear it but it seems so random and after-the-fact, especially since the Broadway production will already be in previews then.
Could it just be a mistake on Amazon's part? It doesn't make any sense and as far as I know the London cast never recorded an album.

I'd be really disappointed to not get a recording of the Broadway cast given who's involved. Here's hoping it's a mistake or that we can be greedy and get two albums.

It appears that the London cast was recorded and is presumably being released to coincide with the Broadway production.
Would suspect highly unlikely there would be a Broadway cast album given the sheer cost involved.
I'm glad the London cast recording is being released!
I loved Matt Smith in the role but this is kind of disappointing if it means there won't be a Broadway cast album.

Surely this will involve some of the new OBC?? I can't imagine the current cast being happy with a recording come out of a different cast

Maybe the producers made this business decision and aren't worried about the feelings of the actors in the current production for some reason

Has anyone reached out to any of the actors for more info? Like someone should tweet Alice Ripley or Jennifer Damnio(? Don't know how to spell her last name LOL) and ask them about it. Maybe this will be more of a concept recording and a Broadway one will comes out later.
My understanding is there will be a separate Broadway recording...
It would probably need to be an unusually big hit to justify the expense - after all, Phantom, Miss Saigon, Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins, Lansbury's Gypsy, Sister Act all did London recordings first, followed by no OBCR.
That's actually a terrible example, because in several cases those shows were big hits running years upon years upon years but there was still no OBC.
Hmmm. Perhaps more reasoning behind "That's actually a terrible example" would help. The point is, it's far from unusual for a London cast recording to be the only cast recording.
There are also exceptions: Matilda, Cats, Evita. But it seems there are more London transfers that do not do 2nd recordings - add Blood Brothers, Starlight Express, Aspects of Love, The Woman in White, etc.
Considering the London production only ran two months, I would guess that there's not a great chance of another recording, unless Sheik or the producers have six-figures already budgeted for one.
Perhaps my wording was in the extreme, sorry!
I was just saying that while there are many precedents for and against two recordings there's still no guarantee.

I can't link at the moment, but last night Duncan Sheik tweeted that the London OCR is being released at the end of March AND they will record a Broadway OBCR.
many of the examples newintown listed probably didn't receive another recording because the London and Broadway productions featured many of the same stars. I would much prefer having a Sister Act with Victoria Clark, for example. c'est la vie.
Thank goodness. I would be so upset if they didn't record the Broadway cast.
I was really upset we didn't get an OBCR of Sister Act too.
I Haven't Got a Prayer is such a great song.
Yeah, Sister Act has several major changes to the score. Only Patina returned from London. It really was a shame because all of the changes were for the better.
The Broadway artwork is a major improvement over the original London artwork but I guess it's a good sign that they're not using the Broadway artwork for the London cast album. Let's be real though. If the Broadway production under performs and closes early we're not getting two cast albums. I'm still confused as to why they recorded the London cast and waited until now to release it if they're also recording the Broadway cast. It's similar to Finding Neverland releasing the concept album and then an actual cast album later on except these are just two actual cast albums. The only difference between the two will be the cast and any new songs that have likely been written for the Broadway production.
