Happy Friday morning, BWay Message Board posters! I love you all.
The NYPHil's COMPANY tix go on sale to the general public this morning and I would like to buy tickets but not once have I been inside of the Avery Fisher ZOMG I keep staring at the seating chart and photos, with that massive, massive orchestra, and those first-tier side seats are looking pretty groovy, if they's available.
Anyone have any thoughts, advice, acoustic expertise to share?
Thanks in advance.

It's obnoxious! But it can't possibly last all morning.

The sides generally suck for staged presentations but the lower you are the better the sight lines. The rear tiers are pretty far back, but are fantastic from an acoustic (at least as far as this hall is concerned)and view standpoint.
I've been to this Avery a few dozen times and I'm almost always disappointed with the sound quality of the hall. Such a pity that a wonderful orchestra like the NY Phil is stuck there - at least for the time being. Their performances at Carnegie are world's better than at Avery.

Thank you, Play Esq.! My logic was that since it's a concert, the side sight lines would be acceptable. If it comes down to it, I'll favor the rear tiers. I'd rather hear it nicely, I think, than get spit on.

I got through on the phone, keep the tickets in your cart, and the representative will have you release them and then snag them for you.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and got tickets for Thursday and for my friend for Saturday. lol. She couldn't call.

Also will be at the April 9 matinee! Third tier, because I barely had the money for this as it is.
Very excited!

Going to the April 9 evening performance!
Got two tickets in the third tier because the prices for this are ridiculous.
