I have no information besides that. Was just whispered it by a friend, and no further details or specifics. But, yeah... wow. Guess I WILL be re-visiting this again.

Oh great, now this means I have to go back see the show like I haven't seen it enough times. It sucks since I was hoping Morton would join the tour with Parsons instead.
I'm with you, Ray. I'm not looking forward to Rashad's Violet (though I'm morbidly curious), but I'm fascinated to see how Morton will play off of her.

I was hoping for Tamyra Gray.
When does Estelle depart? I want to see her do it one more time.
Feb. 28 - Looped, Feb. 28 - Next to Normal, March 4 - Hair, March 11 - A Little Night Music, March 24 - Time Stands Still, April 6 - La Cage Aux Folles, April 10 - Anyone Can Whistle (City Center), April 10 - Looped, May 9 - Enron, May 15 - A Little Night Music, May 15 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Little Night Music, June 20 - A Little Night Music, June 23 - Red, June 23 - Sondheim on Sondheim, July 13 - A Little Night Music, July 18 - The Grand Manner (Lincoln Center)
Awesome news! If you missed her, you owe it to yourself to go back and see her in the role. It's freakin' criminal that she didn't get any awards for this!
I hope Parsons and Morton overlap for a bit -- their dynamic was terrific, better than Morton/Dunagan in my opinion,
Estelle's last performance is May 24th.
Amy Morton is expected to join the company with Phylicia Rashad on May 26th.
^ Thank you.

I was hoping Morton would be on the tour also. The tour opens here on July 24th.

It's official!!!! :)
I still don't know how I feel about Phylicia Rashad as the mother to a white family. I can't see it but maybe it will be amazing. I have to go back to see Morton, so i guess I will see Rashad.
My problem is not that Phylicia would be the mother of a white family, whatever, that can be explained if needed be and I don't think it's relevant anyways. My issue is that certain themes Letts wrote about in the play, specifically his comments on the imperialistic nature of the relationship between whites and Native Americans (and the many interesting dynamics he comes up with through Johnna), won't transfer well when you have a black woman playing Violet.
Still, it might bring an interesting dynamic to her relationship with Barbara, and if anyone can make it work it's Amy Morton. I can't wait to see her take on Barbara alongside Phylicia.

Wait, it's still going to be a white family? Worst decision ever...that completely changes the family dynamic...

Perhaps it's a bit tacky of me, bu I was wondering how Phylicia was going to take on such a phycial role. Then I saw her Jenny Craig commercial. Ah, I thought, she also wondered.
That said, I'm thrilled at this bit of casting and Morton's return!
I think they are trying the color blind casting theory. IF there were more people of color IN the cast we could buy it.
Interesting point about the Native American vs White folk aspect.
Does anyone know when Phylicia Rashad leaves? We are going to see August: Osage County on August 1st. Last summer I saw her in Cat and loved her.
I show hasn't been the same without Amy, I can't wait!

I am getting so excited for this...I keep forgetting that it's happening and them am reminded...three more weeks!!!!
Phylicia and Amy are going to be dynamite together.
Does anybody know if Elizabeth Ashley sticking around for a while longer?
Elizabeth Ashley was perfect! And I can't wait to see Morton in the role. The current Barbara is all kinds of fantastic though.
Well, if the box office doesn't pick up soon, it won't really matter who is playing the mazing matriach.
I wasnt' interested in seeing this a third time, but would try to fit it in to get to see Morton!
