I have been thinking about this for a while she favors Babs and the voice is amazing.

Posted: 4/17/07 at 1:29pmNo. Doesn't have the vocal chops to do fanny live 8 times a week, and she's too much of a mess to trust with a lead on Broadway.
re: Amy Winehouse as Fanny??#2
Posted: 4/17/07 at 1:35pmTotally agreed. Cool voice, but a total hot mess. Amusing on Perez Hilton, but way to risky to topline a show.

Posted: 4/17/07 at 2:05pmI would kill to see her in "Female Trouble" the musical as Dawn Davenport.
re: Amy Winehouse as Fanny??#4
Posted: 4/17/07 at 2:10pmHer voice is inconsistent at best - what is the fascination with this girl?

Not all recording stars' brilliance can be determined by "vocal consistancy." That's stupid.
She's brilliant (and people love her) because of her new, fresh sound - her mixing of 60's sould with current beats, her amusingly original lyrics - the whole package.
You'd be hard pressed to find a pop singer that has a perfectly "consistant" voice.

But we're not talking about her as a recording artist on this thread. We're talking about carrying a Broadway show.
And if she's not consistent on recordings - produced recordings - then the stage shouldn't be the place for her.

Posted: 4/17/07 at 5:46pmThe fascination lies with the fact that she is different and unique and her music is original, retro cool and extremely entertaining.
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

Rath: That's true, and was expressed before you posted in this thread.
The way you worded your post made it seem like you were commenting on her recording popularity - not the potential for her to star in a Musical.

Posted: 7/1/07 at 6:36pmI thought she was a guy in drag when i first saw her on mtv.
re: Amy Winehouse as Fanny??#16
Posted: 7/1/07 at 7:07pmCrazy ironic that I just got her CD last night and this thread pops up. I personally don't think she's got the chops to do a Broadway show, but I do really like her voice and sound.

Oh my God! There are PLENTY of people being cast in Broadway musicals because of their celebrity and mainstream appeal. People who would never stand a CHANCE at a NYC chorus call! We don't need any more! I can't even stand the thought of another one.
Not trying to diss you ghettob - but ugh! I don't even want to picture it! Let Amy stick to the recording studio, videos and concert tours.

So.....
Probably not?
re: Amy Winehouse as Fanny??#19
Posted: 7/23/11 at 3:02pmIrrelevant of how messed up she was, she had some crazy talent. One less unique recording artist around.
re: Amy Winehouse as Fanny??#20
Posted: 7/23/11 at 3:08pmI THINK THIS THREAD SHOULD NOW BE DELETED OUT OF RESPECT

Oh please...
Respect?
She sang a song about not going to re-hab.
Get over it.

TheatreDiva, she had other songs and was an extremely talented artist.
Although many people here are politically correct when it counts, I agree with Mama, solely for the reasons such as the post above this.

Supremely talented singer
However, if she was alive, her drug problem would kill any chance of her playing Fanny. You'd just have to find her understudy.
