No. Doesn't have the vocal chops to do fanny live 8 times a week, and she's too much of a mess to trust with a lead on Broadway.

Totally agreed. Cool voice, but a total hot mess. Amusing on Perez Hilton, but way to risky to topline a show.

Not all recording stars' brilliance can be determined by "vocal consistancy." That's stupid.
She's brilliant (and people love her) because of her new, fresh sound - her mixing of 60's sould with current beats, her amusingly original lyrics - the whole package.
You'd be hard pressed to find a pop singer that has a perfectly "consistant" voice.

But we're not talking about her as a recording artist on this thread. We're talking about carrying a Broadway show.
And if she's not consistent on recordings - produced recordings - then the stage shouldn't be the place for her.

The fascination lies with the fact that she is different and unique and her music is original, retro cool and extremely entertaining.

Crazy ironic that I just got her CD last night and this thread pops up. I personally don't think she's got the chops to do a Broadway show, but I do really like her voice and sound.

Oh my God! There are PLENTY of people being cast in Broadway musicals because of their celebrity and mainstream appeal. People who would never stand a CHANCE at a NYC chorus call! We don't need any more! I can't even stand the thought of another one.
