An Incident Regarding "The Show"

Th premise of this comment is largely flawed in that there are very very few instances (certainly here but I believe overall) of anyone not being able to "handle the fact that someone else doesn't like it as much as [they] do." I have seen precious little comment here castigating folks for not liking Hamilton. What I have seen a lot of ( and what Roxy has confounded with that) is people castigating folks like Roxy for adopting an irrational pathology based on the fact that a great many people think the show is fantastic when they (and he) have no basis for assessing whether the purported "hype" is hype or not. To repeatedly express displeasure about the attention being paid to something you are (for whatever reason) not interested in is, as has been expressed in a myriad of ways, not rational.

INT. RESTROOM
Mrs. Roxy washes her hands by a Hamilton Fan.
Mrs. Roxy: That was a fun show. Did you enjoy it?
Hamilton Fan: Very much so. Have you seen Hamilton yet?
Mrs. Roxy: That piece of over-hyped trash? I'd rather get hit by a bus than see that.
Hamilton Fan: I loved it. In fact, I saw it three times.
Mrs. Roxy: You must be another one of those idiots who can't think for themselves and have to just go along with the crowd.
Hamilton Fan: Why would you say such a thing?
Mr. Roxy enters.
Mr. Roxy: What's gong on in here?
Mrs. Roxy: That woman attacked me for no good reason.
The End.

Mr Hughes: Since you do not know the facts regarding the encounter your are talking out of your rear end on this. The rest of you supposed witty post basically proves my point. Not adore the show with your every breath & you will be attacked.
The End

Mr Roxy is entitled to defend his wife any way he sees fit. The fact that some of you are ganging up on him speaks more about you than him. He doesn't deserve all this vitrol, merely because he doesn't worship the ground on which "the show" walks on.

Thanks Patti
Maybe they will listen to you. In over 50 years of theatergoing, I have never seen such vitriol directed at those who simply do not want to see a show.

The idea that not loving this show will get you attacked here is patently untrue. I don't LOVE it. It's not liking or knowing it and, like Mr. Roxy and Dave19 and AfterEight, making a point of dragging that up at every possible opportunity no matter how irrelevant.

Perhaps it's not the opinion but the way the opinion is delivered. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and-

You live in Fantasyland Scary . I make one statement on this thread & crap starts hitting me from every direction.. Kad, check the hundreds of threads re the show and tell me where I posted in them. I stay out of them religiously. Every negative reply here just proves my point. I could say a million times I do not hate it or love it makes no difference. I am out of this thread as I think beating my head against a cement wall might give me more satisfaction than try to get thru to people I do not care about it. Yesterday, it became personal with this verbal attack . This is why I started this thread. Me responding to another attack will just feed the haters. Enjoy yourself guys as I am finished with this thread.

"The fact that some of you are ganging up on him speaks more about you than him. "
What exactly does this "ganging up" say about us?

It's because he won't stop beating this dead horse. I don't read the Hamilton threads because I haven't seen it yet I've seen him drag this same story about how much he hates the hype into so many different threads that aren't even about Hamilton.

Roxy, you are veering quite sharply into troll territory with all this. It's abundantly clear you are stirring the pot for fun and games. No other explanation.

I am talking about a show on Broadway & the insane hype over it.
No, you're not. You're talking about a nasty lady behaving badly. The show itself has done nothing. And runaway blockbuster hits occur every decade. There is nothing new happening here with regard to Hamilton and fans behaving badly.
For the thousandth time, I do not hate it. I just have no desire to see it.
So you tell us a thousand times.
What I hate is the hype and the rabid fans who take anything less than 2000% adoration of it as reason for immediate execution of said person. Have I made myself clear?
Okay. You should probably avoid all sports, entertainment, politics, religion and living beings,
He doesn't deserve all this vitrol, merely because he doesn't worship the ground on which "the show" walks on.
Nobody's doing that here. But congrats on your Roxy impersonation. He always takes the histrionic response assuming he'll be vilified for his pride in contrary opinions (usually involving pitchforks and usually repeated as often as possible, each time including a histrionic disclaimer). And it's never the reason he's vilified on BWW. If a crazy rude lady attacks his wife regarding her opinion on Hamilton, it has nothing to do with the show or with Roxy's opinion or with any of us here. It has to do with a particular lady who behaved like a lunatic.
In over 50 years of theatergoing, I have never seen such vitriol directed at those who simply do not want to see a show.
That's because you invent the intent of others. I guess the truth doesn't suit your purpose which seems to be to proactively play the victim before anyone says anything. When I was physically assaulted by someone in a bar because I said I wasn't a big fan of Judy Garland, I didn't call her The Woman (like another histrionic member we know), or blame all her fans, or all BWW threads started about her, or those who posted positively on those threads or "over-hyped" her as a performer. I blame only the person who slapped me hard across the face. And if someone else says something nasty to me or about me because I have a different opinion then I call them out as a hypocrite. And I don't whine that people are attacking me over a difference of opinion when they're not.

I never said you post them in Hamilton threads exclusively. One need only to search posts by you that contain the phrase "the show" to see that you do post about it in threads that have little, if anything, to do with Hamilton at all. If you search for "Hamilton," it looks like you've done a bunch of posting in threads explicitly about Hamilton, too.
A cursory lookover of your posting history recently suggests you mention it as much as anyone, if not more than many. Ironically, you often do this to decry how often people mention it.

I learned that one could enjoy Ripcord at a discount and enjoy one's self even more than the show that can't be named. And that, when passing the line into the show that can't be named to see On Your Feet, I could also have the knowledge that I am not caving to the hype and still having a great night out, and on and on...
I don't go into Hamilton threads much, since I saw the show at The Public, loved it, and honestly don't have anything I want to discuss/work out about it. Most of the references I see to Hamilton are Mr. Roxy pitting everything in comparison to it, in some attempt to show how NOT obsessed he is with it, unlike the rest of the sheeple. But one need not have a positive take on something to grow an obsession... clearly.

Sorry to hear about your wife's experience Mr Roxy! And just carry on despite the nastiness on here as I know you will. I can relate when last year I expressed the opinion that I had no interest on Fun Home after listening to its cast recording (a very minority opinion on here) and some people on this board just turned on me. Not a pleasant experience but oh well life goes on
