An Incident Regarding "The Show"

My wife and I went to see The Robber Bridegroom today. We really enjoyed it. When we were exiting, my wife needed to use the ladies room. She came out and told me of an incident that had just occurred in there. A conversation developed re "The Show" . My wife was asked if she saw it.. She said no and commented the hype was over the top in her opinion.. This woman than went ballistic on my wife. All my wife said was her opinion and nothing against the show itself. This whack job than berated my wife saying she knew nothing of theater and it was the greatest show that was ever on Broadway. She had seen it 3 times and was going to see it again. One wonders why she was slumming at Robber and why she was not seeing todays matinee of The Show. My wife said now even if she was given free tickets she would turn them down. This episode COMPLETELY turned her off the show forever. She was ready to deck this moron for her over the top behavior. I know The Show has its supporters but it is really over the top when you are verbally attacked in a Ladies Room simply because you did not see a stupid show.
I do not post in any of the hundreds of threads about it. I wanted to share this here for this reason. I had zero interest in seeing this before. My wife and I now have less than that.

That's terrible, but the show isn't responsible for every boorish moron out there.

The show has nothing to do with that fans over the top reaction and it shouldn't effect your or your wifes desire (or lack of) to see it.
The fan was definitely in the wrong but I have to admit it is irritating when people that haven't seen something claim it's overhyped or overrated. You can't truly say that unless you've seen it yourself.

No it was the titanic production now playing at the Richard Rodgers, I would not see Cats again if someone threatened to pull out my fingernails.

Yep, definitely worthy of a new thread and definitely The Show's fault.

When you get attacked in a ladies room simply for saying your opinion that you think a show is overhyped, it is a bit much. We had no intention of taking money out of an IRA to see a show 6 to 9 months from now & pay what we feel are obscene prices & wait 10 hours in line. Sorry, it simply is not for us. She now knows if the subject of this show comes up not to say a word.
To Scary, never said it was The Show's fault. In addition, I had to start a new thread as I do not read any of the hundreds of threads about it.
We both agreed prior to this, no show is worth this hassle. To those who do, great. It is simply not for us especially after today.

Your right no one should accost your wife or anyone for stating their opinion.
However to call a show "over hyped" without having seen the show is unfair to the show. (Not that the show needs any help selling tickets) Yes it's difficult to acquire tickets to and I probably wouldn't pay $475 a ticket to see it, but until one see's I think it is my fair to the show to say something like .
Again no one should attack for an opinion and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but as a big sports fan and big theatre fan, I can get riled up if someone throws out an opinion without any real reason behind it (I wouldn't attack but I would reply)

Those kinds of fans aren't exclusive to The Show. I've met plenty of people who can't seem to grasp that art is all a matter of taste.

It was really a lot of fun. Very enjoyable . Leslie Kritzer stole the show from Pasquale.

As someone who is a big fan of your wife, I think that's terrible that that happened to her. My condolences to the Mrs.

Quite honestly, I probably would have said close to the same thing but that woman would have regretted going ballistic on me.
Some people are touchy about this show. It has not been high on my list but I do want to see it. Not a big Miranda fan but say that in front of some people and it is like you have committed a crime.

Many of us have expressed an opinion, good or bad, about a show we haven't seen. It's regrettable that Mrs. Roxy had to encounter an "unhinged" fan of "the show."

I'm sorry, which Show are we talking about? Is this about 1776? Because I for one cannot abide anyone who thinks that Show is less than Perfect.

Were they washing their hands or were they taking a dump in adjoining stalls whilst arguing? Thousands of people around the world are being murdered every week due to wars and terrorism, we are facing the threat of a mental case becoming President and THIS is what the woman is arguing about?

The nut job was washing her hands and my wife was waiting to do so.

To some, nothing else in the world matters but this show. Not family, not friends not anyone or anything.

Why are we on a chat board talking about shows when all that is going on in the world?
