...Roger Bart. Igor will be played by Chris Fitzgerald
Where did you hear this leefowler?
hmm, i doubt.
Did they take out the 'T' for the Broadway production?

I doubt this is true.
Roger Bart would not be very good at the part of Frankensein. I know how talented he is, but Igor is just a better role for him.
Either way, though, if Roger's in it, no matter what part he plays, I'm a happy girl. Roger was extremely nice to me when I saw him as Lea on the Producers over the summer (he and my mom knew each other in college and when he saw us at the stage door, he invited us onstage. I almost died of happiness!)

Just so y'all know, I would trust leefowler.

Good casting, if true. Bart has already proved himself as a great Gene Wilder adaptor.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were true. I don't rememeber where, but I do remember reading somewhere that Bart would be in Young Frankenstein, so its just a matter of what role would he play- and I think he would be better as Dr. Frankenstein than Igor.
I hope this is true. I'm a big fan of both Roger Bart and Christopher Fitzgerald. And it is premiering in Seattle still, right? If so I'll get to see it this summer!
I actually LOVE this casting. I pictured Bart as Frankenstein from the start... pitch-perfect.
Doesn't sound quite confirmed just yet.
Does "Young Frankenstein" finally have a cast?
Though no confirmations have gone out, word on the Rialto is that Roger Bart has nabbed the lead role of Dr. Frankenstein in Mel Brooks' new tuner adaptation of his 1974 comedy, with Christopher Fitzgerald cast as Igor.
If the casting news proves correct, Bart and Fitzgerald join an ensemble that likely will include Megan Mullally ("Will & Grace") in the Madeline Kahn role of Dr. Frank's fiancee Elizabeth, Sutton Foster ("The Drowsy Chaperone") in the Teri Garr part of lab assistant Inga and Shuler Hensley ("Tarzan") as Frankenstein's monster, played by Peter Boyle in the film.
There's no indication yet of who will scare the horses as housekeeper Frau Blucher, though the original idea of having Cloris Leachman reprise her screen role has been abandoned.

Bart would be a better Igor. Fitzgerald bores me.

Just to complete the Variety article, Frau Blucher will be played by Andrea Martin.
Yay for Christopher Fitzgerald.
I've loved him since I saw Wicked and heard him on Amour's cast recording.
He deserves to come back to Broadway!
I think Roger will be fantastic...and it's so great that he'll finally get a chance to play a lead role instead of supporting.
Anyone who saw Fitzgerald in Stairway... last week knows that he has some of the best comedic timing out there. I hope this is true, it would be a huge career move for him.
i'm relativley excited for two reasons -
1) they both deserve to be back on broadway in a great show
and
2) i was assuming they would throw another big "mainstream" name in there and the ticket situation would be like THE PRODUCERS.
obviously it's not that i don't want the show to do insanely well (and i have no doubts that it will given the fact that it's YF and the cast is fabulous), but the idea that tickets may not be completely impossible to get is nice if this ends up being true.
I think this is fabulous casting! The only bad thing is that I don't know if I'll be able to see it, and with each additional cast member, I want to see it even more.
It's kind of a weird way for Bart to get the role, considering they had already offered it to two or three "stars" who all turned it down. It is a kudos to Bart's versatility though, that they thought he could play both the Doctor and Igor (he had, after all, played both Carmen and Leo).

What's weird is that I actually had a thought about Bart playing Frankenstein, but as a replacement down the road kinda like he did with first starting as Carmen and then playing Leo in The Producers.
I think he'll be great in the role and I can't wait to see him, Chris, Sutton, Megan, Shuler, and Andrea(if she is doing it). Now, I have to ask...who's playing Kemp???? There has barely been anything about him recently, the only thing I remember hearing is that Marc Kudisch played him for the reading.

I see Roger Bart more of an Igor with Hank Azaria as more of the Doctor, but maybe that's because I still see Bart as the assistant type character such as Carmen Ghia.
Hey worrell4077 I do believe Fred Applegate shall be playing the inspector

There are times - more than I would like - when I HATE HATE HATE the internet!
I think Bart will be a terrific Frankenstein, if he actually did win the part. I don't really know anything about Fitzgerald, so no opinion there. And does it really matter who plays Igor and Frankenstein? This is gonna be ALL about Megan Mullaly.
