And the TONY men are...

So who are the men who are going to take home TONY's this year?
Does anyone have a chance against Jackman's Peter Allen for lead?
(We all appreciate John Tartaglia, I know, but like Bill Murray on the Oscars, you knew -or should have- that he was not going to beat Sean Penn)
And the featured / supporting categories?
A second nomination for Norbert?
Some heavy male competition out of the Assassins cast...
Anyone?

the stand-outs from ASSASSINS are Michael Ceveris, Denis O'Hare, and Neil Patrick Harris (maybe not TONY-worthy) it think.

I love Norbert...but do we really think that he is worth of a nod this year? I mean he is amazing, but the role isnt really that challenging compared to others...I could be wrong...I have been in the past!

Posted: 4/8/04 at 9:08pmJackman will win best actor, no question. No one this season stands a chance against his stage presence, alone. As for featured actor... John Tartaglia's name is below the title so technically he should be eligible for featured actor unless they fu** him over, but it could also go to Stephanie J. Block for his wonderful portrayal of Liza Minnelli. Updated On: 4/8/04 at 09:08 PM

I want Rick Lyon to win. I also loved John T and Gregg Edelman.
I heard Hugh Jackman was incredible but have not seen him yet.

CatsNYRevival- I think it was previously announced that John Tartaglia and Stephanie D'Abruzzo will be considered in the leading categories.
I would love to see Norbert Leo Butz get a nomination but I don't think they would nominate him and Joel Grey. Joel Grey seems more likely to get it. I'm rooting for Douglas Sills here though. I at least hope he gets nominated.

Posted: 4/8/04 at 9:37pmwould you consider the men in assassins featured or lead. i hope the don't overlook hunter this year. but my vote for featured actor is raul in taboo.

I loved Joel in other things he is a wonderful actor. But he had a nothing role in Wicked. He better not win. I loved him in Manny Wolfs Cabaret.
My guess from all the people i talk to is Hugh Jackman will win.
I want Rick Lyon and John T and Gregg Edelman to take an award.
The talent this year is incredible and i wish they all could win.

Hugh Jackman is a shoe-in. Why even bother having other nominees? lol
There are sooo many great actors who could take home best supporting actor, I wouldn't even know who to pick. ??
Joel Grey might win for Seniority; but he does not have a very large role in Wicked. Though I wouldn't be dissapointed if he won.

Posted: 4/8/04 at 10:23pmWith so many possible nominees, I would be surprised if Grey is even nominated. It's a very small role and the majority of it is taken up with two poor songs (the worst in the show). The AVENUE Q guys, the ASSASSINS guys, Jarrod Emick, Mitchell Federan and Douglas Sills could take all the slots. And what about CAROLINE OR CHANGE? The boy could be nominated, any else in that show? If ASSASSINS gets really good reviews Kudisch, Ceveris, Harris, Cantone and O'Hare could take all the nominations.

I would be disappointed.
I would rather Rick Lyon take it. Is he supporting? God i hope he wins a special award for his puppet designs. They are incredible and i would sell myself to own Katemonster.
Just kidding, but i wish they would market the puppets.
The puppets would do well.
I bid 2200 for the Katemonster bear and then realized i could not afford it. Thank god it went for 3600.
If they sold the puppets : Kate, Rod, Nicky and Trekkie and Princeton for 50 each they would sell millions.
I would buy one of each.

I haven't seen Fiddler yet and I never did get to see Taboo
but I've seen all the others and I sincerely believe Hugh Jackman deserves to win for best actor.

Ok Namo here are my picks:
Rick Lyon for best male actor in a musical.
I want Stephanie and Donna to tie so kill me.
If Harvey Fierstein and Antonio Banderas could tie for Best Actor at THE DD'S last year why can't these women tie for the Tony awards. What is the big deal.

Posted: 4/8/04 at 10:50pmActually, the cast of Taboo was incredible. I hope they are not overlooked because of bad publicity or because they closed so long before Tony nominations. But then again, look what happened to Michele Pawke (sp?) last year. A great performance does stand out in the minds of the voters.

Leading Actor:
John Tartaglia
Hugh Jackman
Hunter Foster?
Alfred Molina
I think Alfred Molina might be some competition for Jackman, although we know he has the Tony. Molina, I hear is doing a wonderful job; but nothing compared to Jackman, I hear
As far as Supporting Actor is concerned, I really want Sills to AT LEAST a nomination for his fabulous job. Grey will obviously get nominated, and unless Assassains is really amazing, he'll probably get the tony. I think Butz should also get a nomination. He did a good job as well.

Corrine,
Greg Edellman is just not going to win. You are just going to have to accept that. I can't even remeber a thing about his performance and I saw it only days ago. It is just Hugh Jackmans year. Which will be fun for the rest of the male nominees. They can just go to the Tonys and relax.

Hugh Jackman will win. This is such a well known fact that many performers are jockeying to be nominated in the best featured category so he does not shut them out. I would say that Edelman will be nominated as will Noah Racey from Never Gonna Dance. Alfred Molina, too. All will be thrilled to be nominated and won't expect to win against Jackman.
The Assassins and Avenue Q guys and maybe Jarrod Emick and Joel Grey will all compete for Best Featured.

Nominees:
Hugh Jackman
John Tartaglia
Euan Morton
Alfred Molina
Someone from Assassins or Big River or Noah Racey
Winner: Well, duh. :) Hugh Jackman in a landslide.

Best Actor:
Hugh Jackman*
Hunter Foster- I hope he doesnt get screwed over again
John Tartaglia
Alfred Molina^
(Some one perhaps from Bombay Dreams or Assasins- Havent seen them)
Euan Morton^
Best Supporting Actor:
Jarrod Emick
Douglass Sills
Rick Lyon*
Raul Esperaza
Nobert Butz^
And I dont know his name, but Jim from BIG RIVER because he is amazing-a definate Tony nod performance
(I know a lot of people have been saying Greg Eddelmen, but I thought his performance was a little too raw for a nomination. His voice is crystal clear, but his acting isnt award worthy in my opinion.)
*Winner
^Not Positive on Nomination

Posted: 4/9/04 at 10:53amYou don't think Molina is going to get nominated? There's no doubt about it; Molina will recieve one. Besides deserving it, he's a movie actor debuting on Broadway; even if he did an okay job at the role, he would still be getting nominated. I thought that Molina was going to be competition for Jackman, but it's true; Jackman is a definite for the Tony this year.
