I'm sure her paycut had something to do with it.
She was wise enough to jump ship quickly. Same for the others who have already left or are leaving soon.

Posted: 7/7/08 at 2:18pmI'm not at all surprised by her leaving the show early. If you recall, BROADWAY.com's 'Ask a Star' series hosted an interview with Ms. Martin a few months back. In it, she was quoted as saying something along the lines of "Soon enough, I'll be an out-of-work actor, so please, come see the show now."

Not that I'm condoning the 50% paycut, but I'm sure even at that, the salary was still decent.
I'm sure it's the principle of the matter, more than anything.

^ i remember that! haha in the beginning, she was saying how instead of "Ask a Star" it should be "Ask..a soon-to-be-out-of-work actress"

Posted: 7/7/08 at 2:55pmI was there yesterday afternoon and was completely shocked when Roger Bart said that it was Andrea Martin's final performance in addition to it being Sutton Foster's final performance. They were both fabulous in the show yesterday.

The guy who ran the lotto said this is Sutton and Andrea's last performance, but then retracted and said just Sutton was leaving as if he had let the cat out of the bag. Sure enough though, Roger Bart announced that four cast members were leaving that day, including Andrea.

According to broadway.com, Beth is taking over the role a week earlier than previously announced. She's now starting 7/15.

For as much flak as the show has gotten, I really did enjoy it and thought Andrea was one of the best parts of it. I wasn't wanting to go again, but Beth Leavel piques my curiosity! I may have to hit TKTS.
