This is very exciting, IMO. The play sounds very interesting. Hoping I'm able to get a ticket to it.

Posted: 1/21/15 at 5:30pmI like the play. The staging in Edinburgh was very simple. It will be interesting to see Taymor's approach.

Member tickets went on sale today, btw. First time The Public has done premium pricing for AMEX members?
Anyway, I found a performance where the same seat was non-premium.

They obviously know they have a sell out on their hands, so they will price "accordingly."
I've never been to this theater before. Can anyone tell me if the cheaper seats are worth it? I really don't have it in my budget to pay over $100 plus the bus from Syracuse to see a show.

The normal, non-premium price is $85/seat, though. There is no cheaper pricing, and it is a smaller theater.
With her and that price, though, I would make sure you are hitting reload when the tickets are on sale to the public.

the theater is small and the pitch is reasonably steep. unless you sit on the far sides, the site [eta: sight - duh] lines from the $85 seats are just fine.

Haha, I accidentally wrote "Anna" instead of Anne. Whoops.
Thanks for the advice, I thought the tickets STARTED at $85. Thanks for clearing it up. :) Will definitely pick up tickets when they go on sale.

Usually The Public has flat pricing, so they do technically start at $85. They usually just end there, too.
But as a member, I got mine for $60, no fees, so definitely worthwhile if you can go to 2-3 shows/season.

Anyone able to share the link for member tickets via PM? I live in LA and am not a member. But I'm planning a New York trip at that time and would become a member to get a ticket. Will be checking with the Public first thing in the morning as well.
Thanks!

Posted: 1/21/15 at 11:19pmYou never know. Some shows are sell-outs and some aren't. A one-woman show with Anne Hathaway might not interest a TON of people. But it is paying in their smaller space.

Posted: 1/21/15 at 11:23pmUhh, I usually don't go out on a limb with predictions, but a show with Anne Hathaway, directed by Julie Taymor, in a pretty intimate theater, for only 7 weeks? It will sell out.

Posted: 1/21/15 at 11:30pmI love Anne Hathaway, but man I wish Julie Taymor wasn't directing this. As skilled as she is with visuals, she's terrible at actually directing actors.

Posted: 1/22/15 at 3:27amI got a Public Theatre membership and bought my ticket to GROUNDED :) I'm actually more interested in the show because of Julie Taymor than Anne Hathaway. But it's going be a very hot ticket either way. Now I'm hoping that HAMILTON extends into late April/early May so I can see that too.

Posted: 1/22/15 at 9:27amSomeone in another thread referenced Hamilton potentially going to May 20, if I recall properly. Nothing else is slated for that theater, and the current extension is nearly sold out, so should happen soon...

Show can always transfer, magic sometimes doesn't.

Um...ya no. This is going to be an incredibly hot ticket. Does anyone remember the lines for Twelfth Night at Central Park (a remarkable production and wonderful performances by all, I might add, not least of which Hathaway.)
Very happy to have made a good year-end donation. This play sounds fantastic!

Posted: 1/22/15 at 11:42amWe saw a production of this play in Kansas City at the Unicorn Theater. It was terrific. It requires an intimate space to really work in my opinion.

Just grabbed my tickets now. I called the member hotline and they sounded a bit crazed. They said this one is selling very fast. I definitely had the longest hold time in memory on the Public box office line...
My recommendation: grab your tickets now.

Re HAMILTON extending - I called the Public box office and they could offer no information on the possibility of an extension. But I am hoping that you are correct, Haterobics. FUN HOME and LOVE extended several times. It seems reasonable that they've built in extension periods for HAMILTON too.

Posted: 2/20/15 at 1:43pmI just bought my tickets and I have a question regarding the seating. There were obviously very limited seats left and I ended up getting row D, seats 16 and 18 on the right side. I've never been in the theater before, but I'm wondering if this was a bad decision on my part? I can only imagine I will be looking at the side of her head for the majority of the show.
