"I sense a burning desire in him to continue with the theater, to explore what's going on inside him... he's got all sorts of hidden depths. He's terribly mature without being remotely boring, and he's extremely complex without being screwed up. All in all, I think he's in for an enviably interesting life. The little bastard."

This whole EQUUS/Daniel Radcliffe is sooo last season. We've already gone thru this whole 'Harry Potter Nude' hoopla months ago. This could be the reason why the revival isn't fairing so well for its Broadway incarnation.

The West End production took just over a million pounds in advance ticket sales, IIRC. I don't know the exchange rate but I doubt it is currently performing that far behind, if at all.

the only reason I'd go to see The Boy Who Lived in Equus is to see his wee wee.
I have a feeling its teeny weeny.
#6re: Annie Lebovitz's EQUUS photo
Posted: 8/23/08 at 2:56pmWhy would he show it if it's teeny weeny?
#7re: Annie Lebovitz's EQUUS photo
Posted: 8/23/08 at 3:06pmI ordered tickets for 10/5...and it's funny because every person who I have told that I have tickets has said that I am only going to see him naked! I can think of a lot of other people who I would chose to see in the buff before seeing Daniel R! I just finished reading the play...and I can say that there are a lot of reasons for me personally why I am looking forward to the show.

haha. i dunno. but from the articles that came out after his West End debut, they said it was small...i'm guessing it hasn't had a growth spurt in that short amount of time. haha.
but yeah, Equus is a brilliant play. I just never much appreciated Daniel Radcliffe as an actor. I saw him in December Boys which was supposed to be a big dramatic debut for him and was rather disappointed. :/
I'll probably go see it when he gets replaced.

The only reason EQUUS is on Broadway is because of Daniel Radcliffe (and, to a lesser extent, Richard Griffiths). That's why it's a limited run.

I'm confused.
In the London reviews they talked about the size of his doodle?

"Why would he show it if it's teeny weeny?"
Perhaps because he has strength of character and isn't bothered by people who make superficial value judgements.

Curtainpulldowner: not that I recall.

I honestly feel like if you pay 100 dollars or whatever ridiculous ticket price its going to be just to see Daniel Radcliffe's wang. You're a pervert.
That being said, this is the only article I've read that remotely interested me in going to see Equus (although lets face it- I'm a poor student and I won't). And I have to say... good for Daniel Radcliffe...a friend of mine saw it in London and said his acting was actually really good.

Wanting to see a naked body doesn't make someone a pervert - it's a basic human instinct. And why is it ridiculous to pay $100 to see Equus when that's how much all of the shows are now? Nice logic.

Are we SERIOUSLY discussing the size of Daniel Radcliffe's penis in this thread?

Because I feel like its ridiculous to pay SO MUCH MONEY for just that ONE reason. I'm not saying its ridiculous to pay 100 dollars for a show in general, I'm saying that when the only reason you're going to a show is to see someone naked in it, 100 dollars is a lot to pay if that's all you're planning on appreciating about it. Maybe its just that I'm in high school and a lot of the people I know who are planning on seeing it are teenage girls seeing it just for that reason, but I feel really kind of bad for Daniel Radcliffe when I hear that people are going just to see him naked and not appreciate the artistic work he's put in. And having seen other productions of Equus and knowing that it really is a brilliantly written show, it just feels like a waste of their money that they don't want to try and appreciate the beauty of it.
I'm not trying to be an ass or anything (because it seems like that's how it got taken, and I'm sorry if it offended you in some way...) that's just how I feel about what I've heard.

I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing myself. They may only be going with the intention of seeing Daniel Radcliffe naked, but they are going to have to sit through two hours of some pretty disturbing theatre before they get to it.

Damn, Scrippsy beat me to it.
I shall follow-up anyway!
Because the play isn't about a penis. :P

As long as his penis gets people in their seats, I am all for it.
If done well, by the time the naked scene occurs, you should be so into the play, it seems natural, It's a great play, and I wish Daniel and Richard and the entire cast well.
Stage seats are going up and up...

"If done well, by the time the naked scene occurs, you should be so into the play,..."
Which is what I keep telling people on other message boards where questions come up about the nudity -- the drama is such that the nudity is a secondary thing. You're aware he's naked, but you're so caught up in the action that it's not the main focus of your attention.
