Not gonna lie.
Pretty excited about this.

Whoa! Didn't see that coming! Interesting choice!
I think it's interesting that this is the 3rd Berthe while most of the OBC remains in the show. Does anyone know who is leaving next?

Now I really need to get up there and see this. Love Annie Potts!
OMG is right!
I LOVE Annie Potts.
I'm not surprised there has been so much turnaround for this role. That trapeze bit does not look easy. I was literally slack jawed at Andrea Martin when I saw her do it.
Wow, this is almost enough to get me back a second time.

I live in a time warp. I can't believe that Annie Potts would be considered for this role. And then I remember that Designing Women was 25 years ago.
I just worked with Annie two weeks ago on a pilot called "Young and Hungry". She is delightful and looks wonderful.
Oh, it's time to start livin'
Time to take a little from this world we're given,

If they ever do a Hillary Clinton biopic, Annie Potts is the one to play Hillary.
Did not know she could sing?
The Ghostbusters fanatic in me is screaming.
As I said when her casting was first rumored on this board, Annie Potts is an absolutely inspired choice for Berthe.
Talk about a performer who radiates joy.
Bertha isn't a hard role to sing- No Time At All is pretty much Spoke Sung.
Wanted to go back and see this again, and now I have an even better reason. Love Annie Potts!
This is GREAT casting. I don't think anyone on here mentioned Ms. Potts when we were speculating about replacements. It's nice to be surprised in the internet age. BTW, in the BWW world story it mentions one of her credits as an Off Broadway production of A Little Night Music. Anyone know when this was/what role she played?

Ah, I would have liked to have seen her as Desiree, though the only credit I can find is for a production of Nigh Music at the Macklanburg Playhouse in Columbus, MO. That's considered Off Broadway now, BWW? Oh, boy.
Does anyone know how long she is contracted for? (If I missed it in the article, my apologies!)
I'm seeing the show again in the spring, and was hoping Potts would still be with the show.
Seeing the show on the 20th. Since Tovah will be gone, who is covering Berthe until Potts takes over?
I believe January 20th is a Monday, which is Pippin's dark night. If there was a gap of just a day or two, I'd assume the normal understudy (I believe Sabrina Harper covers Berthe in Pippin?) would be on.
The 20th is a Monday. No show for Pippin, so check your tickets. There's no gap between when Feldshuh leaves(Jan. 19) & when Potts arrives(Jan. 21).
My apologies. I misread the article. Seeing the show the 20th of December. :) Looking forward to seeing Tovah. Thanks!
