Anyone else try to buy tix for Great Comet? I know I started another thread and I thank you for your patience.
When I tried buying tickets I get this weird message:
Plush restaurant-style banquettes with no armrests. Please note: Your exact seat locations will beassigned by the box office at a later date. At that time, your tickets will be issued and either sent to you or held at the box office, depending on the delivery method you selected when you placedyour order. You do not need to do anything at this time.
Hunh? Doesn't this defeat the purpose of, like, reserving seats? I wouldn't have wasted my time picking out seats--why don't they just say general admission?

Because it is not general admission. The box office is probably trying to prevent groups from being separated and considering most of the stage seats will create a similar experience and are so few to begin with, your exact seat location will be assigned (reserved for YOU) at a later date. If it was general admission it would say general admission.
Also: you could have asked this in your already created thread.

You're right. I misspoke when I said general admission. I guess my frustration is they show you a seating chart, you spend time picking the seats you want, and they say "actually your real seats will be assigned to you later." Their set up is already confusing so picking seats took more time than usual. Then you don't know where you will be sitting after all. It's kind of like the Spirit Airlines approach to house management.
Part of me will probably go back on next week and get tix and just go with the flow. I'm a fringe theatre kind of person. But another part of me wants to possibly wait and see how previews go for others and if all sounds good, see it next spring
I don't live near NYC, was planning to see this and Dear Evan Hansen on a special December trip.
And you are right. This shouldn't have been a separate thread, although it brings up another issue regarding buying seats for the show.

romain2 - Are you trying to get regular seats in the orchestra/mezz or are you trying to get onstage seating? If you're getting regular seats in the orchestra/mezz, you get to choose your seats. They don't allow you to choose your exact locations for onstage seating with the exception of the different general onstage types: Upholstered chairs at tables; Upholstered armchairs; Upholstered banquettes.
So, I'm confused on your question as you said that you picked your exact seats, but then are mentioning the banquette seating.

I understand your frustration. I think they haven't finalized the seating chart for banquette seats yet, perhaps? They probably should have started selling those banquette seats once the seating chart for that area has been finalized.

Thanks sorano. And yes I'm confused--I go to a lot of shows and have never spent more time scratching my head. I chose seats in the orchestra and then received that message I cut and pasted above. I then tried again, choosing two different seats in the orchestra and received the same message.
Maybe there's a glitch on the site. I'll peek again perhaps tomorrow or over the weekend.
Were you able to buy specific reserved seats? Have others encountered this?
This whole process has taken more of my time than when I read War and Peace, lol.

Thanks wick. That's more than likely the situation. Part of me wants to be go with the flow and adventurous but I don't want to be assigned bad seats. I'm leaning at this point towards waiting until my annual Spring trip to see the show. For my December trip I already have tix for Dear Evan Hansen. There are so many great shows going on I'm bound to find something else. Although I kind of wanted to see these two particular shows this time around. I'm kicking myself for not seeing it off-Broadway when I visited a few years ago. I appreciate you taking the time to respond--thanks again

romain2 - Such to see if I got the same pop-up as you, I went through the whole process (picked a random December date, chose 2 seats in the Orchestra) and made it all the way to the credit card page and didn't receive a pop-up.
Were you prevented from purchasing your tickets because of the pop-up or did you just not continue the purchase because you were concerned by the message of the pop-up? Either way, since you're purchasing orchestra seats, the message of the pop-up (in regards to the onstage banquette seating) does not apply to you. So try again purchasing later.

No. It's not general seating. A specific seat assignment will be assigned.
I'm assuming they need to make sure that the renovations/design work they way they intend it to before assigning seats. Since parts of the orchestra are affected as well, they want to keep things flexible.

What the users before me said was what I as told when I called to buy on stage banquet seating. Since the set is still being constructed they aren't assigning certain seat numbers yet. You pay for a section and later (I think July/August) they will assign seat numbers based on the order of payment. So if you are really worried maybe wait a month or two and see if the option to choose seats appears.

I saw the Great Comet when it was inside a circus tent in midtown. I think it was called the Kazino tent back then and that production was overall intimate and moving.
i plan to do rush or lottery during previews and if I like the oroduction, buy a full price or discounted ticket on the seat I want.
