Another Request for Recommendations
#1Another Request for Recommendations
Posted: 4/4/07 at 2:27pmIt's been close to a year since I've been able to go to NYC and I have a weekend trip planned for mid-May. That leaves me the opportunity to see 4 shows and I've been trying to narrow down my list. I know I want to see Curtains. Other possibilities are Grey Gardens, Legally Blonde, Company, Frost/Nixon, LoveMusik, Talk Radio. Any suggestions (out of this list or something I've left out)?

I'm gonna take issue with this thread (not to mention the 4,827 like it) and ask the obvious question: DO YOU READ ANYTHING ON THIS BOARD?
If you did, such a request would be unnecessary, because you already know what's playing and who dearly loves it or not and why. Instead of asking a question that's going to get the same tired responses over and over (Good lord, how many times do we need to see people say "Oh, see THIS!" or "Gosh, see THIS!"?), do a little simple research and READ SOME OF THE THREADS TO SEE WHAT PEOPLE WRITE ABOUT THIS STUFF.
Frankly, these cookie cutter requests are tiresome and unnecessary.

Thank you all for the suggestions. Narrowing down the list is never easy but I suppose it's a fun problem to have.
As for Sean, so sorry to have bothered you. First, if a thread doesn't interest you, then why don't you just ignore it the way most other people manage to do and second, yes, reading existing threads does tell you about what shows certain people are enjoying (and I do enjoy seeing people's reviews), but it doesn't always tell you how they may rank everything that's out there. Some people fail to understand that not everyone is in NY and able to see everything that gets produced -- when you have a limited amount of time, knowing what people who have seen everything would prioritize is very helpful. The worst thing is to only have time for a certain number of shows and then find you've spent a spot on something that wasn't the best use of your time.

It depends on what kind of show you want to see.
A Chorus Line is cute and entertaining. It was funny and I'm glad I saw it.
Rent is a blast. The music is awsome and fresh. The story is touching. - much better than the movie
Spring Awakening is amazing. It had such energy. The cast is young and very nice. You can wait by the stage door and talk with the actors after the show. The music is so beautiful and I cannot keep myself from listening to it. I am seeing it again in 15 days and cannot wait.
Lion King is safe. The opening scene is gorgeous, but you would need to splurge on good seats. I sat in 4th row and loved it. I saw it again in the mez and it was difficult to hear. Something was wrong. It was much beter up close.
You may or may not have seen these already, but the revival of A Chorus Line is fairly new as well as Spring Awakening.

well since most the people on here havent seen Legally Blonde yet i will recommend that, its the most fun you can have in the theatre and is a great show.
Ignore the recommendations for LoveMusik since no one has actually seen this yet(yet people think because it has some big names in its gonna be a hit, most flops have big names attached to)
Grey Gardens is great to
