It says everywhere that it closes July 31, is this true, or is there a chance it will extend?

I saw it Thursday night (to a very full house, I might add), and I had a conversation with an usher, who basically said that they are very much hoping it will extend, and it seems likely that it will.

I did like it, very much. I went in expecting a nice version of a classic show, and that's what I got.

Also, I really want to see Sutton, does anyone know of any days she plans on not performing?
It's a little early for that...but overall, Sutton has a pretty decent track record.

and does her contract go all the way throught July 31? Or is she departing earlier?
Most likely she's contracted through July 31 with an option to extend should the show be a success.
If Sutton or the production win the Best Actress or Best Revival of a Musical Tony, it would probably extend... and maybe we may even get a cast recording!!
It will extend based on tickts sold, but they will likely get an upsweep just from being nominated. But they certainly have jumped the gun before: they extended Bye Bye Birdie, and then had to move up the closing. It still ran longer than the original plan, however.
From what I'm hearing, this is a better show than Birdie, but that's not saying a whole lot. (As I thought Birdie was nothing more that a well costumed HS show.)

At first I wanted to agree with you, but then I thought -- why are you being so disrespectful of high school theatre? Some HS productions have had more creativity and more energy than that Broadway one!

I never saw that production of Bye Bye Birdie, but based on what I heard of it, yes, Anything Goes is better. And I think ticket sales have been pretty good so far.
They're taking group bookings well into November, so they are indeed hoping sales will allow an extension.

I've had some serious issues with Roundabout's treatment of musicals, but not with Anything Goes. I won't go so far as to claim that it surpassed the Lincoln Center version, but it certainly gave that production a run for its money. Highly recommended in this quarter.
I think Birdie and Anything Goes are 2 different musicals and it's not fair to say that one is better than another. I enjoyed both productions a lot.
The only cast member who won't extend more than likely is Laura Osnes, who will hopefully be starring in Wildhorn's Bonnie & Clyde in August or September!

That would be a shame if Laura left Anything Goes for Bonnie and Clyde. Assuming, of course, that Anything Goes has the potential to run a bit longer and Bonnie and Clyde will just be another Wildhorn flop.
