Any word on Robber Bridegroom Recording?

With the announcement of the She Loves Me recording... I can't help but wonder if there'll be a Robber Bridegroom recording. It seems that this revival isn't a terribly big success... but I adored it. The existing cast recording is pretty terrible... so it seems like a new cast recording is a no-brainer but there's been no word. Anyone got some insight?

ETA -

I defer to Kad.

I had heard that it was unlikely, but my source is out of date.

I've heard a cast recording is in the works, but have no solid details.

Fingers crossed! I'd love to have a recording of this!

I love the score and the new arrangements. I think the chances are low except for Pasquale's involvement. Fingers crossed.

At the talk back Saturday an audience member asked if there would be a sound recording and Pascquale said "yes? We are trying to make that happen."

They also said this will be the version of the show that will be licensed going forward. It was in response to an unrelated questioning regarding changes (of which they made several in this version) so they didn't tie it to the recording, but I don't think that fact could hurt.

I adored this show and hope for an extension/transfer and recording. Dare to dream.

The following appears on the PS Classics homepage:

"What's the next vintage musical we'll be recording? Hint #1: one of the supporting players later recurred on two top-rated sitcoms."

It's confusingly worded, but assuming this refers to the cast of the original production, Ernie Sabella had recurring roles on Perfect Strangers and That's So Raven after The Robber Bridegroom.

I don't think a score from the mid 70's falls under their definition of "vintage." Plus generally when they do a recording like that it's a show that has never been recorded.

Good point about "vintage"; I hadn't considered the usual standards of the label. But if they're also describing a show that was never recorded, that's not much of a hint--such shows disappear so thoroughly that few people have any idea who was in the cast.

Could it be Company? Beth Howland (Alice) and Charles Kimbrough (Murphy Brown) could be the clues. Maybe not-- Barbara Baree was on Barney Miller...

I enjoyed this (significantly revised) production; definitely not as much as the more eccentric original version, but it was entertaining.

I think the original recording (bar odd sound level issues) is excellent - those original arrangements sounded like authentic bluegrass; these new arrangements sound (to me) like bluegrass as channeled by a hipster band in Brooklyn (which is probably more palatable to a modern audience, I suppose).

The sound quality of the original recording makes it very difficult for me to enjoy. I don't know if it's just a poor mastering for the CD release or if the original source was just too poor to salvage. I still wish they had recorded it with LuPone and Kline.

For some reason, I don't think this has been formally announced- but this is indeed being recorded by Ghostlight. I've heard they're going into the studio immediately after the run concludes.
