How is anyone's free speech being limited here? Is a hex placed on your computer making it unable to connect to BWW? Are there people here that only care about being "right"? Yes....but if I choose not to speak my mind, that's my problem.
Lol my free speech is being taken away, along with my guns. THANKS Hamilton.

But does there need to be this???

Nope. There doesn't need to be anything. This is almost as dumb as your original post in this thread.

So, analyzing hype, marketing strategies and media for a broadway show, particularly one that is getting a lot of focus and attention in a myriad of ways whether intentional or not by the publicity machine - is dumb?
It seems to be an interesting topic for many here.
If it doesn't so much apply to YOUR interests, there's really no need to attack someone else for bringing up a different angle on the Hamilton machine.
Peace be with you and may you be find forgiveness in your heart.

as others have noted, that is not what you did in your opening post in this thread. You were not analyzing; you were letting everyone know you personally were "over [it] without even seeing it." There's plenty of scholarship analyzing hype, marketing strategies and media. For some it is their life's work. For you it is a facile nonsensical comment and yes that equates with "dumb." Wanna have an intelligent discussion about this? Next time perhaps you shouldn't start by assuming the point to be proven.

I still don't know what would warrant someone to attack someone else for saying they're over Hamilton. Then trying to figure out reasons why.
I wasn't hating on the show I haven't seen it
just making observations and wondering if others feel the same
as someone who enjoys publicity machines and media marketing its a prime example of what happens when too much Is too much (At least for me)
but to be called dumb for it Is well, too much
Clearly it's difficult for you to let others have an opinion. Bless your heart.

Taboo,
Thank you for starting this thread, one that is most welcome, and long overdue. As you can see, more than a few people share your feelings (not to mention those who share them but are reluctant to voice them, for reasons made only too clear in this thread.)
And don't let the bullies on this board get you down. Their posts are worth zilch --- as are they.
The valentines are adorable. If you are "over it" why would you continue to click on things with Hamilton in the title? I find it very easy to avoid things that bring me little joy.
Yes, lots of people have admitted its a bit much....but not everyone equates it with taking it out on the show. It's ok not to like it, but your reasons shouldn't be "because everyone else can't stop talking about it".
My lunch group at work talks about the Walking Dead a lot. I don't watch it. Their talking about it (a lot) doesn't make me hate it, get sick of it, or be better than it. When they talk too much about it for my taste, I go have lunch somewhere else for a few days.

Yours, which are written by a computer program, have so much value?
Taboo, no one (least of all I) attacked you for your opinion. What people called you out on was the irrationality and unintelligence of what you said. It is irrational to like or dislike a show substantively based on the amount of attention it is getting. And it is unintelligent (as others have pointed out to you in this thread, to no avail) that what you are calling publicity and marketing is neither: it is simply a function of the exuberant level of interest in this show from precincts rarely heard from.
Those supporting you here are our beloved trolls. Do you really want to be in that camp?
It has been ages (for some, a lifetime) since a Broadway musical captured the public's attention at anywhere near the level of Hamilton. Most of us think that's a great thing, but I suppose for some it is such an alien notion that it is off-putting.
As I said before, I am happy to have an intelligent discussion of this phenomenon, and to hear your opinions. But do not mistake getting called out for irrationality or unintelligence an attack on your opinions.
Would you prefer for the theatre to exist in a cocoon, untethered to popular culture? There are those who do. Are you similarly "over" Star Wars? What are the shows that you have seen and love? would you feel the same about them if they were getting as much attention as Hamilton? These are intelligent questions; let's see if you might go to the trouble of engaging them instead of pretending to be some sort of victime here.
If Alexander Hamilton read this thread, he would have ended up just shooting himself.
But does there need to be this???
So what? That sort of thing is not unusual nor is it unique to this show. The choice to read about it or click the links is yours. So I'd the choice of sharing it with us and perpetuating what you deem to be so hugely problematic. If I want to see a show, I see it. If I find the publicity and discussions annoying, I ignore them. That's why I don't read any threads related to Follies. It's like the old "Doctor, my arm hurts when I do this joke" but rather than seeing a doctor or avoiding moving your arm that way, you just consider amputating it first.
