The amount of stupidity on the board? And the fighting? And I ain't talking about being catty, we're all f-ing theatre queens. If you can't take the bitchy, get ye to a radio station (or something). But everyone gets so nasty at the catty. I dunno. I'm sure I'm making absolutely no sense. But it seems we can't get any good discussion done because everybody's whining about people not liking this, or whatever. Jeezy Chreezy.
Feel free to use this thread to have a cat fight.
I'm discouraged by the fact that I never know which alias you're going to use, ljay/barker, todd.
Oh FOA, I love you.
I'm discouraged by bad subject headers. Stupidity just gives me more fodder for mockery.

Its very discouraging. But there are unwritten rules to this board as I have learned over the past few years. Here are some of them:
1. You MUST like Sondheim. If you don't, and you say so on these boards, you will be hated.
2. You MUST hate everything Disney. If you like anything Disney, you will be hated.
3. You MUST like Patti Lupone. If you don't, you will be hated.
4. You MUST hate Cry Baby.
5. You MUST question everything new.
6. You MUST not like things that are based on recent movies.
7. You MUST go with the flow.
8. You MUST NOT voice your own opinion.
9.You must agree with everything Pal Joey and Jaystarr say. After all, they run
this board.
If you obey the above rules, there will be no fighting on the boards.
I admit there is more fussing than I enjoy, but I avoid threads where I know there is going to be a lot of fighting. There is still a lot of good discussion on these boards, but one does have to wade through a lot of crap to engage the good.
I think it is the same on all boards though. If we met at a bar we would never speak to each other they way some choose to on here. But in cyber world people think it is ok to be nasty to one another.

I think I just started posting here last weekend, and I don't know what to think. I told myself to not get too addicted, but yet it happened for some reason.
And I don't really care what anyone thinks of me here. I don't lie, and if you disagree with me, whatever. I just don't give a crap. It's not like I ever meet anyone from here anyway. And that's a personal choice.
It's not like I ever meet anyone from here anyway.
I've met people who post here. But usually I knew them beforehand.
Other times...well, honestly, I've made good friends.
11. Thou shall not post threads about Stage dooring. You will be
ripped a new one.
Yeah, I sort of have a problem trusting people, so that's why I have never decided to meet up with people I've met on the internet or if I ever do, will be very careful.
You say that NOW...
I try to steer clear of arguments and drama on here, but I have noticed in the last couple of weeks (well, since the first preview of Cry Baby), that things have a different feeling than the usual. Feathers are getting ruffled easily, and people are ruffling them at a breakneck pace. That show has definitely had an impact on people on these boards, and it is most certainly felt. More so than I have seen any not-even-opened show have on here. Pirate Queen definitely stirred the pot, but this is on a whole new level.
I will say though that it often amusing to see a new thread started on a beaten to death topic and think "Oh Lawd! Someone is about to get spanked!"
OK, back to the point. I think it is great to be passionate about something (in this case, a Broadway show) and it is healthy to disagree and engage in discussion about disagreements, but to be hateful because we are all behind an alias is another thing. Just sayin'....
That said, I love the passionate views of people on here, and I put a lot of faith in a lot of the regulars here (esp. J*, WAT, WBaF...I feel like I agree with them a lot on shows...and I love you too LizzieCurrry, you always make me chuckle). Why? They back up what they say. This I appreciate.
I might get attacked for this, but after tracking the Cry Baby threads today, I applaud Not Barker for starting this thread. (And yes, I have stated that I want to see Cry Baby for its flop factor...but I have been known to love a flop!)

The only real problem i have here is when a thread goes way off topic - huge pictures particularly (only when they have no relation to the topic, such as all those pictures of Matt Cavenaugh in one thread). I expect disagreements and strong opinions on these message boards. I'm envious that some of you get to see way more shows than I do!! (;
I kind of really liked the Matt Cavanaugh pics!
It doesn't seem to me that there's a lot of stupidity on the board. Some, yes. but not much.
Fighting? Sure, a lot of that, but it can be avoided. Like sally1112, I try to avoid sniper fire. Not everyone does, and more power to them.
Threads do wander off topic, and I readily admit to contributing to that particular problem sometimes. A thread is its own discussion, and can go in various directions, just like discussions do. Starting a thread does not give one the right to control it, nor should it be accomapnied by the particular expectation that the discussion will go the way one wants it to.
Huge pictures annoy me, but they don't discourage me. I just figure they come with the territory.
"There will be fighting on every and all message boards, just like there is in real life."
Oh, there's far MORE on message boards since we don't actually have to face each other and can hide behind user names and avatars.
jpbran - EXACTLY! We can all hide behind our alias and avatar and say whatever we want. But, would we say such things face-to-face? Probably not, unless the parties involved were all good friends and could take some of it in stride.
slimandslam - I agree. Dicussions take natural turns, and I have never had a problem with that. Actually, I liked the turn a thread about going to the theater by yourself turned into today. Very valid points made by those contributing, even if they did venture off of the topic.
But, I stick my original post on this thread...Cry Baby has most certainly sent voices in an uproar! And in that respect...does that go by the saying that "any publicity is good publicity"? I have to admit that I want to see it even more because of the uproar on here.
I find it funny that this discussion about fighting and sniping is going on at the same time that the "I'M HERE!!!!" thread started by greekmusicalfan is running. Everyone on that thread is so happy as to border on giddiness.
12. You must never talk down to Lizzie. If you do, you will go crying to your mommy!
But, would we say such things face-to-face? Probably not, unless the parties involved were all good friends and could take some of it in stride.
Oh, if only you had witnessed some of the smack we were talking in the Jersey Boys SF rush line...
It was like BWW Live.
I am annoyed by it. As I mentioned in another post, I happen to LOVE Cry-Baby but then again, I have 2 dear friends who hated that show. I respect their opinion and they respect mine and we don't spend hours arguing about it or calling each other silly names. YOu'd think people on this board were arguing about abortion rights or the Iraq war- things that are a bit more important than whether Kelli or Patti deserves the Tony or whether Catered Affair is the best show on Broadway or the worst.
You did that quip already.
